You literally think outside the box! The way your mind uses whatever tool it needs, is like little "ah-ha" moments! I'd bet anything some leather crafters are asking themselves "Why didn't I think of that!" I think working with various materials across multiple vocations, frees the mind from conventional thinking, allowing you to use whatever tools help get the task at hand completed! I really enjoyed this one!

I think he put a whole lotta though inside this box, too. I ready like those veg tan braces and strapping against the darker leather. Maybe you need to patent a 'leather' dado blade.

@@AnnoyedJots We actually already have a specialized tool for cutting a v groove in leather to an exact depth. And it is cheap and easy to use. Similar to a hand plane but has a V gouge in the center.

This is gold. I love leather. I have woodworking tools. If it works it ain't stupid. It never occurred to me that you could treat thick leather like thin wood in certain ways. Awesome video Jimmy! Thanks for the inspiration

Life hack, for (winter) dry hands I take half a box of gelatin (Jell-O brand usually) and mix it well into a cup of warm water and drink it down. Wait 2-3 days if you don't notice some relief do the other half box. I rarely have to do the second half. The collagen works it's way through your body and heals from within. Appreciate yours content.

Jimmy, having been a leather worker for over 30 years, all leather bends easier when you case it (get it wet/damp). take a look at wet forming leather, it makes creating custom holders / shapes a lot easier. there is also a tool for cutting straping, you just need a straight edge to start with. hmmm I may have to break out my track saw to create a straight edge in the future...

Jimmy!!!! I've been following you for years and have learned so much from you, I started with leather working a few years ago and is now becoming my main source of income. I absolutly can't understand the Head Knife. It goes against everything I know about using knives!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I firmly belive that most people that use them only do it because it is trendy. Some might disagree and try to argue but I won't belive them 😅

I tried and tried and tried to use a box cutter for leather, for years. then when I got a head knife it was a 100% amazing game changer for me. I understand they aren't for everyone, but I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss them as something people use just because they think they're supposed to or they're just traditional. they're an amazing knife that can work well if you give them a chance and take the time to learn how to use and sharpen then correctly.
