YES!! Love those heuchras/Cora Bells and the many colors under the Lime Light. My bells just started sprouting the tall flower & at first I thought it was a weed! ☺️ Seeing yours here, I must be doing something right! My hedge is 3 yrs old from 3G containers & I prune it the same way. Beautiful Rox!

I love the look of the hydrangeas trimmed. I planted several last year to do the same thing. How big were yours when you first started pruning? Do you have a video on pruning when the were small? When should I start the pruning process? Any help would be appreciated. Love your gardens, they are beautiful!

to help you with the hard, back breaking work trimming the bottom of your limelight hydrangea bushes , you can use a file and file down the leaf nodes. This will stop the growth of the leaf nodes turning into branches at the bottom of your hydrangea bushes.

That hedge is so beautiful! Last year when I came across your channel it inspired me to take down a hedge of super old lilacs privacy screen between neighbors. They weren’t taken care of. Had a ton of dead in the middle and suckers with other small trees in them. I loved your hydrangea hedge so much the way you trim them. So I planted a row of hydrangeas. Can’t wait for them to get big. Im with you on the heat, ugh 🥵& mosquitoes. We’re in a high heat index of 100’s with humidity in KS zone 6a. It sucks. 😫 I keep wanting to snooze until 7:30 am but I know I should just wake up to be an early bird to make gardening in the heat work. We’re we lucky last summer May and June seemed like it was way cooler for some reason in the Midwest? Always enjoy your videos try to stay cool. 😊❤️🌻

I don't really, last year the rolly pollies were eating my seedlings at some point and I added some sorta powder but other than that I don't really do much more. A healthy garden is going to have an ecosystem of bugs who would wanna eat your plants, it just comes with the territory.

Iv always wanted to have hydrangeas but before I knew much about gardening I bought a plant and killed it with the wrong spot in the yard apparently. A few years later tried again, same result. This was so helpful because I have one huge hydrangea that is so wide and full at the bottom that it is crowding out all the plants around it. It's full of buds now and this video gave me courage to trim it up before it blooms. One tip: last week I trimmed just a few small bottom branches and I stuck them in the ground in a shaded location and every one me of them took! So I made 6 cuttings from just those few branches. [ I feel less guilty about pruning them up! ] 😩 I love your videos! PS: all the colorful heucheras underneath your hydrangeas are a perfect accent filler! Choosing Joy~ stephanie

I like the way you keep the bottoms of the hydrangea clear of lower branches. It helps provide good air circulation for all the plants. Wish we in Arkansas had some of that rain you mentioned. We only have the 90 temps. and humidity. Unfortunately soil at my 'new' house is clay and it's very difficult to grow flowers. They start out fine in the top layer of soil I've added but stop when they hit the clay. What pests do you have, and how are you controlling them?

Hi I love yr videos. In one of yr videos u used felt to line a wire planter. Where do u get yr felt from and why do u use felt instead of coco liners? Thank you
@SoilandMargaritas
@SoilandMargaritas 2 жыл бұрын
I get the felt from any store that sells them (hobby lobby, Michael’s, etc) you can use anything that lets water thru to line your baskets, I don’t like coco liners because they will show on some of my baskets and I don’t like the brown light color, I can use paper bags or even any fabric that would hold soil and let water run 🤷🏻‍♀️

@@SoilandMargaritas yes I have heard from utube rd that the coco liners also dry out quickly. So u have to water more often. But next year I will try yr method. 🌷

Hey Rox! I'm having a hard time with my standard limelights flopping. I did try to prune mine in a vase shape like yours. Should I prune the ones flopping down really low in your opinion? I see some people stake them up but I really don't want to do that. I have mine up against the house and I'm wondering if they would do better with a 360 degree area to grow like yours. Seems they tip one way bc they can't grow out into to the house. 😟
@SoilandMargaritas
@SoilandMargaritas 2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm If they are too close to the house they might just be pushing to the sides, Are you leaving strong branches when you prune? I see a lot of people leave the skinny branches and only cut the blooms from their shrubs... if you think of it, skinny branches are going to grow skinny growth and when the blooms are huge they will flop with the weight of it. I would "try" to give it a prune to make them look better now but maybe using a string to keep them all together and fluffy might be best.
@PlainJane144
@PlainJane144 2 жыл бұрын
@@SoilandMargaritas yes I leave the strong and prune the skinny. They are huge (7-8ft) and look beautiful other than the flopping. Only 2 of the 6 plants are falling down. Also, they are only about 3yrs old. Thanks for replying Rox. Appreciate it. I will tie up some of the branches after pruning a little.
