Lol reading some of these comments..... no way i could make a youtube video for all the weekend professionals to critique... Anyway..... Looking good, I'm glad i came across this channel it's definitely helping with more ideas on how to attack my 64 instead of going for broke and just replacing everything. Keep it going

I’m glad that you have a semi solid base to work from, It could have been a lot worse! Thanks for sharing the journey.

Good seeing another 64 vert being revived! Took me 25 years to restore mine, life kept getting in the way. Someday I'll get around to putting together a video on it. Just sub'd to see more!

Water drains from the front windshield louver down to the rocker panels out through the rear tire rocker panel opening 62 to 64 are the same wich is a bad engineering design but the problem is when you do a patch panel there is no way to water proof the back side of the patch so within a couple years your going to have paint peeling of in that area .

I'm guessing that white line of bodyfiller is a section that's been lap welded. If it was me I would join in the new piece above that line

I was going to, but they already warped the shit out of the quarter panel and I was afraid I would warp it more sense it was already out of place

Both kick panel vent plastic doors can be removed and below the kick panel opening is where debri dirt plugs the drain openning to that leads to the rocker panel rear discharge opening where you will find on the rear inner rocker panel a rubber flapper seal that's to drain all the water the gets in through the windshield louver vent where wipers so the kick panel vent doors must be removed to clean the front water drain area for rocker panels it's always plugged up use vacuum cleaner air pressure to clean and blow all debri to the rear rocker water drain hole where the rubber flapper seal is at hope this helps you guys.

The original rocker panels were zink plated they were full inner and outer factory rocker panels replacement rocker panels are not full like factory rocker panels and they are not long enough to go under the front door Pilar or rear wheel well lower area.

Yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever put full rockers on a 64 impala before that I can remember of, but yeah, I wish somebody out there would make better quality reproduction parts. It would make life a lot easier. This was a budget job so kind of just had to make patch panels that’s what they wanted.

Yeah, I know I get it. There is really no proper way to undercoat or paint the inside of those. I use the weld through primer that’s about all I can do. I did drill a couple drain holes, which will help but I guess maybe fluid film would work if you can have somebody get a nozzle up there that would probably definitely help but even where you weld end up being bare metal because the weld itself burns off the primer.

You need to bolt a piece of angle iron on the front of that brake so you’re lifting up on more surface area you don’t want to weld it you want to be able to take it off.

Why didn’t you make a small relief cut and bend the metal to make a strong corner ?
