This engine model is fully made of paper and cardboard. It work on compressed air (you can blow to run this model ;) )
Here is the link where you can download templates and something like instruction to make this model: drive.google.c...

great..great..great.. This paper machines work very well and If you within the cylinder is coated with graphite powder (you can use a pencil tip) , it will be more slippery and will not compression leak .. because the paper is "porous" material .. if you use the same cylinders and pistons for stirling engine (power piston) , will work best.... good work !....

nice idea with graphite, thanks, maybe I'll try it in some future model.

i scaled this model 2 : 1 and found that it takes more to get the piston to turn but since there is more mass you get twice as much power, it has very little torque though. i found this channel on the show outrageous acts of science.

@Chumbbo , not exactly. The process is the following: you blow into the tube, pressured air moves the piston down through the opened valve, this energy is passed to the flywheel, and the valve is getting closed; then the flywheel turns all mechanism further at the expense of accumulated power , and the valve is getting opened by the crank and the pusher, and the cycle is repeated.

@azn00234 . Oh, yes :) In truth, I already thought about it. But the air pressure for this model should be quite high( = the balloon should be really giant :) ). My second model ("In-Line 4-cylinder engine paper model") requires much less pressure, and I hope one day I'll build engine paper model that will be able to be used in vehicle model.

@nothingssmore
@nothingssmore 11 ай бұрын
detail 27 is a "socket" for air supply - main goal of all the bend lines on it is to change the section shape from round at one end to rectangular at the other. As for the springs - you need to cut these strips (four items) and bend them at the dashed lines, but each next line should be bent in opposite direction

I made the rods for this model from watman. Maybe you have used office paper? - it is too thin. As for the shafts, they are twisted from office paper but I have not experienced any problems with their strength. The thing is paper should be twisted and glued very tight, without any gaps
