Dynamic warm up is the way. They have a dvd , 101 dynamic warm up, from coaches choice. When a coach doesn't have a open mind, his athletics are in for a world of trouble.

I coached track and field in high school for about 5 years in California. I was blessed to make it 2 years out of 5 years. If you want to be a track and field coach, I would suggest for you to take some hand on classes at usatfccca education for coaches. Every coach will do things different but to understand the science of the body and know how to apply it on the track is special. I have seen coaches who were level 2 and level 3 certified and didn't know how to do it on the track. You will also go through jealously and envey from other parents and coaches even on your staff. A lot of coaches are still doing things the way they were trained. When you can develop an athlete then you are a good coach. Anyone can get the girl that runs 11.2 or the boy that runs 10.2

Wait I'm confused; if the 4 300m's are broken into 150m's wouldn't the workout just be 8 150m's?

They do 150 then rest short time and do another 150 and then they rest for longer time. That makes one rep, so like 150, rest 30 secs, another 150. That's one set, so wait 5 minutes and do another set. This is what I think

Everyone trans different. I knew some coaches at long beach poly high and the had 2 boys that ran 10.49. The reason why they wouldn't train them together is because they would take each other out of the technical part of the race. Keep your mind on the race and not on the person.

Are they training for lactic endurance? What time is she splitting...21.75 is the goal right? Someone at her level can probably run a high 16 second 150 so the 21 second split would be about 75-80% of her best effort, essentially they're slightly more intense than normal tempo runs. This effort is required prior to high velocity sprint work as a bridge to higher intensity sessions to make sure her musculature and connective tissue are getting reacclimatized to training. AND its about introducing volume as well (1200m total volume for this workout). She runs the 100, 200 I mean how much volume would she really do? The reason for the short rest is NOT to induce lactic but challenge the aerobic system a bit more. 300m at the pace she was running would be too long for her fitness level right now and would only lead to terribly bad mechanics and possible injury (she is very tall and needs to be strong enough to handle running stress; her running volume isnt too high but she needs to focus on proper general physical prep in the weight room more). She is not incurring too much lactic this session if at all (maybe faintly but again, bridge workout for higher intensity sessions). This is an AEROBIC WORKOUT not a lactic tolerance session. She then goes to weight room for more general prep work. The injuries she has incurred in her career are strength related.

Get your cardio in now when it counts I'm telling you this from experience I was a high school Track athlete 400m,200m and 4x400 and I'm being honest I did not train before the season started other than pre season. Now looking back I'm in college and still running and my times have gotten way faster from doing cross country and my 400m is now a 53 sec and I dont run the 200 anymore since i have converted to a full time distance/ steeplechase and 800m runner

1 mile jog 3 times a week in the morning or at night just make sure its not to close to your track workout. Your track workouts go as follows. Week 1 through 2- day 1( Monday) 3x600m remember to do your dynamic warmup Day 2 (wedsenday) 10x100m strides 60-75 percent 1:30min rest focuse on form Day 3(Friday) Hills 80 percent speed find a hill approximately 50 meters long. If you cant find hills do beach runs if you have the option( beach runs 45 second strides) Week 3 through 4Day 1( monday) 6x250m 70 percent Day 2( Wedsenday) 3x500m Day 3( Friday) 1 minute strides on the beach focus on form no faster then 60 percent, if there are no beaches us the hills. Week 5 and 6 Day 1- 3x250m and 3x150m 75- 80 percent. Day 2 300m, 450m, 550m,450m and 300m Day 3- 4x300m By the way you will probably be a 200/400 guy most likely very few people are made for the 100, you should still run the 100 though.feel free to ask me any questions

I truly feel bad for her she should have never left her high school coach. pairing her up with coach was a very bad decision. just because you have a professional contract that does not mean you need a so called professional coach. her high school coach helped her to that national high school record time. if you want to actually have a career GET AWAY FROM THIS GUY.....i was a big fan . but now this is becoming an embarrassment.

At one point she had a lapse in discipline with nutrition. Wgt started fluctuating and then surgery. She has moved off campus and has a nutritionist and training partners now. Hopefully, she will make a full recovery from the surgery and get back to what she does best. You have to be a special kind of cynic to call a 20 yo a bust at this point in her career.
