We have a lot of original parts for this vehicle but not a lot of running gear (Final Drive and Return Rollers)... so the boys are going to have to make it from scratch!
This is a running PANZER I Ausf. B (1 of only 6 in the world).

I just love Workshop Wednesday up until the music starts in the background. Then I know it's coming to an end, & a wave of sadness hits me. Then I remember Jason will be back on Friday. Thanks, team, for walking me through the assembly of the final drive and return rollers, I found it really interesting, Thanks as airways. Cheers

Always great to watch, what my forefathers invented, drawed and built! I am a skilled German metal worker (takes 3.5 years to get one). In Germany you learn drawing and reading draws, how and why metals behave like they do. 2 days at school and 3 days at work in your company. So, we always know why we do what we do.

@@royalblood2405Thank you! But no! They were no heroes and did a lot of sh*t. But many Germans learnt from these faults. Yes, we had great engineers! Most modern tanks worldwide are based on the Panther.

Fantastic work! I doubt even the German engineers would quibble much over the sprocket being 1.0 mm out! The attention to detail and the fabrication skills of this team are a pleasure to watch each week. A great big thumbs up to you guys from the East Coast of the USA!

12 years ago, I worked in commercial plumbing and heating supplies, selling things like those pipe reducers. Never did i imagine I'd see them used on a Panzer

The "find randome stuff to build my random thing" is the hardest part of custom projects. But when it all comes together in your head, then the screen, the bench.. Then mounting it, seeing it in place. Is rewarding in So many ways. I can't imagine how you must reel knowing you're creative problem solving will be Part of the history imbued in this vehicle; that you get to breathe life back into lost pieces of valour... and loss.

A wee tip mate , Husqvarna has a piece of foam(drenched in oil or grease) taking up the space outside the distance between the bearings outside the distance piece so when pulls the shaft out the distance piece do not fall down providing one with a problem...lightweight an' very clevver...

This sort of thinking from you reminds me of the dolts who tore down the statues of our forefathers and confederate soldiers. Remember, the past had an impact on peoples lives…both good and bad! Nothing is harder to reconstruct than a memory!

That hub for the drive sprocket is a marvellous piece of work. I congratulate the person who worked out the design. I find I get amazed at the complexity of the machinery of a tank, which will suffer all sorts of abuse during its working life.

Just a thought the cast support shaft housing that you had to rebuild/ manufacturer, looks very similar to some parts on old disk plows/offsets, the cast disk spacers are reasonably priced new and old ones even cheaper might even save you a few hours in build time . Really enjoying the rebuild and a bit of i reckon we can make this adapt and work attitude well done crew .

Daryl is not just a carpenter, think of him as a high class carpenter! Your mechanical magicians are amazing. I just hate the waiting a week for my next Workshop fix! It is amazing to me you even have the small number of parts you have. The Panzer I was really only a developmental and training vehicle, though they did see combat in the Spanish Civil War and the early years of WWII. They were mostly gone before war's end, so it will be great to see a rebuilt one driving around.
