The "confrontation" between the EBR and the M47 actually took place in the streets of Lisbon during the Carnation revolution in April 74. They were on opposing sides of the revolution, but eventually they both stood down and no shots were fired.

Your comment may lead to confusion, it is indeed the M47s which were ordered by the loyalists and the EBRs by the revolutionaries.

a little addendum: not all EBRs had two radios, troop vehicles only had the one radio set installed in the turret, in front of the commander (SCR 528), platoon command cars had an additional set (SCR 506 or TRVM 1) mounted with the rear driver to talk on the divisional network as those vehicles were affected to divisional reconnaissance groups

At the entrance of the Panhard military manufacture next to Paris there's a restored one sitting at the entrance. At least until they got bought by Renault. I didn't return there since. Where I use to work we had an 8 cyl engine. The heads as far as I can tell are regular car heads and I believe the crank is just an extended car crank (you can do that with Panhard because of the way the crank is manufactured) it wouldn't surprise me if the pistons, wrist pins, con rod, valves, rockers and torsion bars (the engine doesn't use springs) are identical to their cars.
