I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. Every USA men’s foilist is such a character and win or lose they’re a delight to watch. If I had to pick a favourite, maybe Chamley-Watson for the unique technique and hair? Love their energy

I've met Race....he trains in my area (did some armory work for him and his girlfriend at a camp I was working when he was still with Golubitsky). Nice guy...but then again, I was dealing with him in a professional context as an armorer, not as a competitor.

I guess I imagined fencing being like a sword fight that lasts a little while.

Fencing appears to have become more of a joust than a display of actual swordsmanship.
@NigelUltra
@NigelUltra 4 жыл бұрын
Is there a sport that's actually about swordsmanship? Like, a first to draw blood sorta thing? I'm starting to get into this fencing stuff more and more, but after seeing these world championship videos it's starting to look more and more like a more intense version of tag, only in this version you're both the tagger, and you're each holding what appears to be a very long but thin limp d**k

God. You can see a lot of swordsmnaship in fencing. But to be honest. At those levels the ammount of stress and the importance of every move makes It like this

@christianalbertjahns2577
@christianalbertjahns2577 4 жыл бұрын
Because.... Other teams become very good. Here's Italy's results in Men's Team Foil 1. Bonn - silver (lost to USA) 2. Paris - silver (lost to Russia) 3. Tokyo - gold 4. St. Petersburg - 5th (lost to Hongkong) 5. European Champs Dusseldorf - bronze (lost to Germany) 6. WCH Budapest - bronze (lost to France) So yeah, just one gold. The other teams were very good when they beated(?, I kind of forget what past form of beat) Italy, and they are generally good team

Do you have any idea how bloody that would be? The only reason the swords bend/have buttons is so that people don't get hurt. You should watch/play airsoft if watching people get hurt is fun to you lol

I think you'd be interested in HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts). I'm more on the HEMA side of the fence, but I foil "fenced" with my father growing up and a little in college and had a phenomenal time doing it! Try both, if you're able!

Chamley-Watson needs to spend less time showboating and actually trying to improve or else he's gonna be booted off the national team for Itkin, not to mention he peaked 7 years ago

The sword is made of steel bruh. If they made it any more rigid ribs would be broken and lungs would be punctured on a regular basis (which has happened before).

You've got that right. Have a look at the old-timey fencers, they were really good at actually fencing. When I fenced in the '70s and '80s, we were taught by some really cool coaches who wanted us to learn sportsmanship and gentlemanliness, not ego and win win win!!
