Just when I thought South Africa was losing all of it's talent because of a useless and corrupt organization,we find these jewels, Paul Marsh and Joubert. He definitely makes me proud to be South African. Andrew! As usual absolutely bloody brilliant! Sad to see that you have left us but happy that you're still thinking of us old chap.

Absolutely love the story of the customer that wanted their rusted Land Cruiser redone. That shows how vehicles, no matter what it is, can impact your life that you will do anything to save it. Now that Land Cruiser will continue living and one day be handed down to their children. Great, great story.

Nice to see Bella so prominently featured in this video. Joubert and his team did a stunning job, especially if you factor in that HJ47s were never sold in the Troopy configuration in South Africa - so sourcing of parts was not always easy! Lucky that she didn't have to be brought "back from the dead" LOL. Since getting her back I took possession of a custom roof rack which is stunning - also fabricated in Cape Town by a talented and meticulous young man!

I once tore an old split screen tray back out of a barn and gave it a service, just fluids and ignition and she burst back into life, quite amazing how sturdy it was. We were on a large farm and the owner was so pleased that he re- garaged it closer to the house and admonished the manager for using it as a motorized wheel barrow. I also fixed a water pump for him and we decided to let it go and flood one of the paddocks. Off we go in this old beast in the dead of night to turn off the pump and she made it through the flood we had created. The owner bought a bottle of whisky along and some disposable cups and kept handing me a small one. We made it out but there was an electrical failure and I had no headlights, we made it home and I rectified the problem in the morning but what fun.

Would have been interesting to compare the 45 troopy with the 75/78 troopy for car camping. The 45 has quite a few advantages and more and more people are using them again to overland very long distance : - Roof conversion for a popup is easy and cheap, the roof cap unbolt so you don't need to cut anything and it exists plans on the Internet to build a popup cap by yourself to bolt in place. - Straight walls on the back means you have more room at body height to live inside the vehicle. - Straight wall also means you have more width to sleep inside, particularly at roof level (with a popup), you gain 20cm in width and can sleep in a lot of confort ! Of course they are very old vehicles with everything that goes with but they are also very easy to fix on the road by any mechanic in the world.

Thanks Andrew for showing us that very nice video how they restore those vehicles .. it hurts that Toyota being a Japanese company has Japanese thinking about the past .. the truth is that the 40 series is the icon of toyota and it hurts what that we have arrived today with the name of the land cruiser .. except for the 70 series which is the one that saves that name .. 40 'is much more than a car there are infinite emotions behind that vehicle .. I only Said to anyone who restores a 40 'please keep it as original as possible.

love seeing what these guys are doing with these old Land Cruisers I only hope that they owners actually use them you see so many cars and trucks that are made to look like new but then end up only going to car shows or are left in garages waiting for there price to go up they should be enjoyed a few scratches and dents only add to the joy of owning them.

Man watching these old vehicles being restored got me nostalgic to find the old camel run vehicle vids again to watch. I know that's Landrovers not Landcruisers but damn it wish someone did stuff like that again. No Baha trucks or desert runner vehicles that just have "stock" vehicle shells. Just regular Suvs or trucks setup for Over landeing. Stock vehicles with some mods to do long runs and challenges along the way. I think a show like that would do gang busters considering how much people are getting into long range 4x4ing nowadays.
