Fabulous workmanship, the age demographic of those capable of this is evidenced by the fact that your meeting some of the oldest people in the country and quite possibly some of the last people that can manage to produce this standard of work at home. I'm never regretted model making as a hobby. It's been a constant in my life for the last 60 years..

I am only at 22 minutes and this is the best model engineering video I have ever seen! Your commentary is a serious attribute to the video! Other commentaries of video’s are frequently babblers of foolishness demonstrating they actually have no clue what they are looking at. You are not only knowledgeable but your obvious relationship with many at the show add a certain authenticity and value to the video! Great work! I’m being educated, not just entertained!

It would be an amazing addition to you video if you included a list of the modellers and their contacts and any resources available from the booths, i.e. catalogues, plans or kits available or a link to the show that might have that list. I know that would be quite a task to compile if the show doesn’t provide it. I love your video and would love to go to one of these shows some day. There isn’t anything like this in Canada that I am aware of. Thank you so much for posting this. It is a dream motivator for me!

@@reddrryder Thanks. I'll do that. I only wish I had the engineering talent to make one myself, but I've only bought, ready made, all the small engines in my small collection of steam toys. Of course I've got a 1:10 scale road engine (Markie) and a similar 3" Aveling & Porter (Maxitrak)! When the pandemic settles down to a simmer I intend to 'do the circuit' of steam rallies within 250 miles of my UK home and show them off. I might even get the 3" registered for full road use!

Gee whizz.! All this from a person who joined KZfaq 6 years ago and has posted no videos ever and has -0- subscribers. I am not aiming for critical acclaim. I provide video footage of working displays in a 75,000 sq ft exhibition venue with over 300 exhibitors and thousands of people milling around. I manage to get out and take a lot of short clips, all while operating and maintaining my own displays with 10-15 working running engines for the entire weekend. I do this so you can enjoy a slice of our hobby if you could not attend. So yes, some of my camera work may be shaky. It is much worse looking before I spend many hours editing. If you don't enjoy this, I would prefer you just say thank you and move on or say nothing and move on. Thanks for watching, RedRyder

You witnessed no jump starts. The cam stops after it fires and doesn't turn again until the engine needs to fire again. This system regulates the engine more accurately than a human hand could.

You should know that most of the mechanical marvels you see at these shows are hand built by the highly skilled model engineers who display them. It is difficult to put a realistic price on any of these machines given the skills and the very high number of hours required to create one. Some of these machines have thousands of hours put into them. It isn't about the price.

There appears to be no next generation for this hobby. I attend as many of these shows as I can. I also visit the steam railroad museums from Maine 2 foot gauge to the full size train museums. I enjoy all of them but I am just another old guy amazed at the skill required to build and run these.
