I remember watching this match live...The highlights don't do it justice! Serena embarrassed sharapova that night.She was absolutely helpless! Serena hit winner after winner with laser beam accuracy! Even the commentators were in shock by how dominant she was. Loved every minute of it!

This is my favorite Grand Slam win by Serena for all the reasons we all know. I've watched highlights and the final SOOOoooooo many times. It just makes me so happy.

I think the final was one of the best matches, if not the best match, of her life. Maria wasn't doing anything wrong, she just couldn't do anything about Serena's perfect game from every department. The tournament in general was not smooth sailing for Serena, against Petrova especially and a few others she almost lost, but she managed to come back and win those matches, that's what she wasn't able to do in her late carreer. Kerber, Halep, Andreescu, Osaka... she lost to all these players in straight sets

Probably the most inspiring and exciting championship run in tennis and in sports history. Once Serena fought back in the 2nd set against Petrova, it felt like destiny. I remember watching the final and almost the entire first set were return winners. The reactions from her and the Australian crowd gave me goosebumps, then and when I watched this video! Thanks!

Serena (like they said) was out of shape here and still won shows you that age really helps. Fast forward 20 some + or - years, yes she's super fit, but age is a real big factor. I still love Serena but my heart realizes the reality of age in any sport.

I really like these videos chronicling some of the Williams sisters best runs. However, they would be a lot more interesting if you showed a better balance of the winning points, particularly in matches like the Petrova one in this video showing why the other player put up a challenge or why Petrova dominated the first set

I think she meant the 05 final Against Davenport. All of Serena’s final on the rebound ace were indoor finals because of rain or another reason.The final switched to night in 2009

NOBODY is unbeatable....duh....BUT....when serena is at her best....like this match....NOBODY can beat her....usually when Serena lost it was due to a mountain of unforced errors and she doesnt serve well....Graf lost to sabatini in the 90 us open final in HER prime...and sabatini was nowhere NEAR the player henin was.....

Aggressive behavior beyond normal like destroying 🎾 she's been on juice now since 2011 or maybe even sooner. Blessed genes but she was convinced and broken down by hangers on to use HgH. Pulmonary embolism is a side effect. Athletes don't get pulmonary embolism sorry don't even make that excuse that it was normal for her to have suffered that embolism
