Ivan Lendl was my favorite tennis player. He is such a classy guy. He was an inspiration to me to play on the my high school tennis team.

When I was 14 I had a poster of Ivan Lendl blasting a forehand and burning a hole through the net.. Becker Lendl Connors Wilander Borg Mac Edberg I also remember Ivan used to keep saw dust in his pocket for traction. Those were the good old days.

Ivan is a Class act, Really appreciate his contribution, thoughts & perspective on the Game, He Truly had to put up with a lot of adversity back then with the Cold war going on along with the US fans & McEnroe & Connors! After his 7th US Open final, Sport Illustrated issued him on their Cover, The Champion that nobody likes, Love him or hate em! Ivan, helped redefine the game back then with his fitness & stamina & One of the First players to use a composited Graphite Racquet, Ivan was in the US Open Finals 8 consecutive years & Won 3 of them, Sadly, Tennis is a declining sport in General especially here in the US, Love ya Nadal, However, Many forget, Borg won 6 French in a row then went on to retired at the ripe old age of 25 at the end of that year,

Very thoughtful guy. Bumped into him at my country club coming off the golf course. I said I need to get him out on the tennis court and he said - you don’t want any of that lol

Funny how when I was a kid. I thought Ivan was the “Darth Vader” of Tennis. Cold and lethal. You had to respect his game.

Cannot compare generations= modern players would crush past players (if everything remained the same as when they played)*. Just a fact of sports evolution & life, though I'm still impressed how Laver & Rosewall played so well into their 30s & near 40s, certainly players like them, Sampras, Borg, Lendl, etc. had the athleticism, mental strength & adaptability to thrive in any era imo *Also can't compare because there's just far too much speculation. Even tho had modern-esque players in 20th century, game changed a bunch, practically a different sport almost even in 20 or 30 years separating 1960-70 from 1990+

You can't compare generations, but Rafa would beat anyone in history at the French.

Not a big fan. He was boring to watch. Only time I would watch one if his matches was when Connors was still young and in his prime, I enjoyed Jimmy beating him like at US Open finals.
