the secondaries here are, somewhat unfortunately, exactly the same as on the other Iowas (except that the 127mm turrets are a slightly newer variant, but I'm not sure that has any impact in-game). I quite liked the big guns and was surprised by the accuracy - I'd have expected worse. I do find them trollish, though - sometimes I get salvos at fully broadsiding cruisers that "only" do full pens, or even bounces, sometimes I double-citadel battleships for 15-20dmg. My biggest issue (that you don't see in this battle) is with DDs. In the regular USN BB configuration, I can turn bow-in against a DD and slam them with HE while they're trying to do a runup. Not as easy here, and the 4.5 degree traverse doesn't help, which is why I ended up with secondary range & close quarters skill.

@@FunandGameswithTerry yeah I agree. The secondary guns here on Wowsb are rather shitty compared to PC. And the guns are definitely trollish in my opinion. One salvo you get 3 citdals and and full pens next salvo u get over pens and bouncees

I really like the guns. Good precision, and they can absolutely murder something at any range if they're not trolling you.

Yes, the usual terms & conditions apply - premium ships not required to win, or necessarily conductive to better gameplay without necessary skills. I personally don't use loot boxes either, but if ships come up as bundles, event prices, shipyard etc. is when I get them, if I'm interested.

it's a question of balance & dpm. Fewer shells, fewer chances for citadels, but increased citadel damage, vs more shells, but slightly longer reload - it comes very close in the end, which means it's down to the captain's skill, and to understanding a ship's strengths and weaknesses.

Depends on where you aim, aim right at the waterline for a good amount of damage, and a bit above for cits but you might miss some shells.

NC has distinctly worse dispersion at that range in my experience. I was actually surprised how accurate the huge guns are, which is why I dropped the precision module in slot 1 in favour of secondaries

@@Shadow-sq2yj Not about a war that actually happened. It's about a hypothetical scenario. It's called a dark comedy. Dr. Strangelove is a very famous movie directed by Stanley Kubrick about nuclear war. It is a comedy but it is about a subject that could end human civilization.

To be fair, the US never used the 457mm naval guns, first due to treaties, and then because they just weren't practical due to their weight. The question becomes how you differentiate ships and give them a unique, differentiating capability. I generally prefer real ships over paper ones (or just straight up imagined ones) as well, but this is certainly an interesting case.

I've got a Kurfürst video coming up probably next week with some gameplay. That'd be the only one I've actually played. German H-class aren't easy to play, but they're great fun, of the "live fast, die young" variety. I'm sure you'll get different answers whoever you ask, though ;)

Personally, I'm quite keen to try Yama (300% citadel bonus) - we'll have to see with Monty. What I like about the German BBs is the "battering ram" playstyle. Live fast, die young, leave a trail of destruction.

Fun and games with Terry - Cool, I will wait and catch that. I am keen to spend the XP on either Yamato or GK. The Lion and Iowa I like plying and have Tier XII Captains so I will probably just grind those 2. I do have Musashi which I really like too.
