This is LITERALLY the point where American carriers really DID start getting armored decks. With THIS SPECIFIC SHIP. @@josephstewart105 Negative. Not even the Essex class had armored flight decks when built. Maybe some eventually had some armor added, but the Midway class was the first American carriers with armored flight decks.

Yes..... stop and think about it. You are firing at deck armor that is designed to defend against attack from above which includes plunging fire from shells. He stopped bouncing because he was firing at the hull of the ship

the reason was the british had them and the americans didn't, plus the pacific naval battles showed that the wooden decks could take a carrier out longer than the british armoured decks, HMS Formidable was out for 30 mins while the us carriers were taken out the battle

To be fair to the old salt miner ("When did the Americans start building carriers with armoured flight decks?"), Midway is about the only armored carrier the US ever built.

Thomas Thedoubter actually, every US carrier since Midway has an armored flight deck. Midway is the only one in the game, though.

Speaking of “A Paddlin’”, today I was playing on this map, and in the French BB before the Normandie. Ship in the distance, but my rear guns are still turning.. only three turrets it is. Shots out at the broadside enemy.. and, wait for it.. instakill! Looking it up later, I realize my slow battle wagon had somehow taken out a Gneisenau. Le boom, hon hon hon!

British aircraft carriers used armored flight decks during WW2, and their experience operating as the British Pacific Fleet with the Americans heavily influenced future American carrier design.

Damn. That was a carry of EPIC proportions. Congratulations to both of those guys. The carrier did its job perfectly, providing air defense assistance to keep the Montana firing and launching some torpedo attacks that were just beautiful / sick.

When under air attack turn in, not away. Turning away is a good way to get all the torpedoes to hit.

Kinda depends how you're angled to begin with. If the planes are coming up behind you, turning in just gives them your full broadside.

It's a general rule of thumb to keep either your bow or stern pointed at torp throwers, and it's far more beneficial to move toward the torps and decrease the passing time, thus avoiding staying in a straight line for too long and decreasing the chance of drifting over into one, rather than going with them and doing the inverse. Still, the most important thing is just to thread the gap, so whatever works.

Wanted to comment the same although that kept going on anf on and on to the point of making me stop watching. by the time he decides whom to shoot he could have at least shot 3 salvos. It felt like he was trying to charge up for a falcon punch or something haha. On the otjer hand he is picking good shots and not spamming. For me it just feels kind of wrong i dunno that constant zooming in and out just makes it unpleasing to watch

in a way i'd have liked it if HMS Dreadnaught was, in fact, a tier 2 battleship (as she was the first of her kind, and sort of turned the whole navy thing on it's head in WW1), to balance her out a bit they could make her have a slightly lower healthpool and 0 AA, so when she enters a tier 3 battle she's outclassed by the dreadnaught-ships that came after her, but when she's top tier she's basically the queen of the sea (apart from being vulnerable to torpedoes...no torpedo bulges, slow, not at all maneuverable) i think it can be done to have this and still not have her be pay to win, or utter trash.

...Uh Jingles, I think the Midway has *always* had an armored flight deck like just the actual real-life ship. Come on man! Know your ships! lol Regardless, the real question here would be more along the lines of why said armored flight deck isn't causing more AP shells to penetrate and arm rather than over-pen.

not sure you're aware of this jingles, but the midway has around 95mm of armor on the flight deck... in fact, it is shocking how hard it is to kill a midway with AP at mid range, any and all 152mm and lower bounce/fail to penetrate (sorry minotaur), and battleship AP on the flight deck at 12-20km will usually bounce (if landing on the armored deck and not the side)

HMS Dreadnought was the first DREADNOUGHT-type battleship to be built. There were numerous British BBs built during the Victorian era.

yea seriously as a german bb captain. dat dispersion. Think the best shot ive gotten out of a german bb was taking out a gearing at full speed at 21km in a bismarck (secondary build) because i started the game firing HE because i figured the first ships i would see were DD's. like 1-2 minutes into the game on the first salvo. blow the enemy gearing out of the water at the limit of a bismarcks guns..probably never happen again. Got the first blood achievement for on my first shot of the game.

I saw those incoming Yamato salvos at the end when he was duking it out with the enemy Montana and was internally just screaming, "Shhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit! NONONONONONONONO!" Every time a salvo came in. He was incredibly lucky he didn't get nuked by one of those salvos.

HWS Dreadnought is beautiful and such a piece of history I'm glad to see she's finally making it into the game. Yes it'll be another Mikasa but hey, it's a classic. The Wichita and the West Virginia are also pretty nice looking.

It'll take some serious work to make sure that submarines aren't OP. The most obvious choice is to make it so they can't dive very far, in which case they're just weaker destroyers.

eeh they could implement depth charges or even depth charge dropping planes/squadron , and giving submarines to have limited submerging time & disabling it when there is fire or flooding (like consumable) which reduces detection to 2-4 km, and could be detected by either radar/hydro, they could also have lower tier destroyer gun & small torpedo salvo with normal reload on surface (with long torp reload & shorter range & lower speed when underwater) just an idea, it might actually work tho

I usually moan like hell at World of Warships videos, but it's nice to see a BB do well without hiding behind islands too much and also someone else suffering the mind bendingly, frustating Over pens that drive me nuts. PS the Dreadnaught and Vanguard look nice, the 'first' and the 'last' you could say !

Very good game, the other team lost their oportunity to overrun them in the south flank by not pushing hard enough, and the cv did a great work breaking their formations and advancement direction with excelent torpedo drops. GeoBrigade95 is a very good bb captain.

USS Midway, the USN's first armored aircraft carrier. Built with a battleship style hull and a heavily armored flight deck. Think British armored carrier on steriods with a much larger air wing and heavy 5 inch DP battery.

Adm. Jingles remember history on the Midway and Yorktown, how the Japanese Navy thought that they sunk them both many times sooo having some shots bounce off the flight deck.... These things happen lol (I would be mad also lol) . Peace and love to all

I'm pretty hyped for the Vanguard, but unfortunately the current stats are NOT at all what I had hoped/envisioned for a Vanguard appearance. They're putting her turret rotation at 72s base, which is painfully slow for T8, her sigma is 1.8 on main caliber, which means that whilst she CAN hit to 20km, She's gonna have a hard time hitting anything reliably at that range. And to top it off, her AP Velocity is pretty low. Glad they're bringing her into WoWS, but in her current state she's not going to be very impressive.

The Gearing somked and left it to shoot the Montana, because many player do that. When Destroyer do that, they want you to Boradside them so there Torpedos hit. This Montana knew the drill, not falling for that.^^ Also this Midway i think had AP Bombers, so it doesnt matter if your repair is on cd, but it might citadel. Also the Midway has an Armored Flightdeck, some things bounce off^^

In 5:50 ... I dont understand why people don't use right mouse button, its the best moment to use it, he wants to rotate guns to other side but at the same time he doesn't look at enemy, look on other side like he does in 5:50 and then press and hold right mouse button to rotate guns and have map awareness at the same time... in 2 years of watching wow replays on Jingles channel I only saw Flambass use it... I thought this is some basic shit but apparently even on ties X people dont use it...

Its absolutely incredible, you can shoot, then immediately rotate guns to other side while performing turn while looking out for incoming fire to dodge. Its like holding ALT in arma or pubg.

I re-bind the free look key to C because putting a *free look* button on your mouse is stupid. It's bad because you don't want to be pushing your mouse into the pad when wheeling it around. And I can't bind right click to anything because wargaming won't let me. :(

They're also introducing USS West Virginia...the pre-Pearl Harbor version. Which is exactly the opposite of what players have been asking for since Alpha. NA server is trying to make the issue explode harder than the Alabama debacle, and more power to them.

I mean, Midway is quite heavily armoured and she most definitely has an armoured flight deck. If I'm not mistaken Essex has an armoured flight deck aswell. Taiho and Hakuryu definitely have that
