An Asashio-class destroyer commissioned in 1938. Throughout the War in the Pacific, Minegumo was engaged in invasion operations in Malaya, the Philippines, and the Dutch East Indies. She took part in the Battle of the Java Sea and "Tokyo Express" runs. On March 5, 1943, during one of those transport runs, Minegumo was sunk by a U.S. task force in the Blackett Strait.
In most regards, Minegumo will be quite similar to her sister Asashio. Captains will recognize her slow-traversing, slow-reloading main battery of six 127mm guns, which nevertheless can pack a punch in short engagements. Her main armament can be considered her torpedo battery of two quadruple launchers; while in-game, Minegumo will be able to freely swap between two different varieties of torpedo. One will be long-range, but slow-speed and easy to detect, while the other will be incredibly fast and harder to spot, but with an extremely short range.
Bold captains who enjoy using F3 torpedoes on Shimakaze and Yūgumo to make point-blank attacks will find themselves at home with this ship. She will be best played by using her great stealth to make undetected attacks from close range, but can fall back on her longer range torpedoes when necessary. Captains should beware enemy destroyers and keep an eye on cruisers, as her slow speed and poor damage per minute can get her in trouble when forced to fight these opponents in the open.

I wish they wouldn't gimp the short range torps from 8 to 6.5 km. I am a pretty average player except 2200 PR in Yugumo.

@@mitchrc3 well i dont mind if they shortened it but they better compensate on the torp speed or damage then maybe make its super sneakyness its gimmick 😂

@@mitchrc3 To be fair it's concealment is currently so good it doesn't really change much. If anything u get closer to launch making them even more deadly as they have even less reaction time

@@iskapoclavejo686 They are taking away TRB (as compared to Yugumo) but giving 2 options in torps. And the reload is very good.

Thanks for the review! Perhaps the most logical comparison is with Kagero. Both Tier 8 Kagero and Tier 9 Minegumo have the same base sea detection, but Minegumo has 20% more base gun and 10% more base torp DPM. So a better Kagero at a higher tier. Because of the greater gun advantage, a gun build makes sense. And 20% is a pretty major difference in this game. Tier 9 Yugumo has more gun DPM than Minegumo, but slightly worse detection.

The 20km Deep Waters are Fun, but my Last Game in the Asashio was 4 DD's and like 3 Cruisers, One BB and One CV, the BB and CV were at the Complete OPPISITE End of the Map... They were Dead before I got there... At the Very Least. this is Overall Usable by Comparison...

These are all normal torpedos at the moment though...no deep waters

build into those guns. Torps are easily countered, guns less so. 6 second reload, you could get that down to much less and have 6 x 2150 dmg per trigger pull.

You are most welcome. Unfortunately no info yet released about the resource cost of Minegumo. I'm assuming you are referring to the Kommisar. It seems to have returned to development as it's currently not even in the testing roster.

Jager is slightly worse concealment, 5.43 vs 5.37. I play Jager a lot and it is quite annoying to be spotted first by Harekaze/Asashio/Kagero.

@@RightOnTarget1 5.43 vs 5.37 there is almost no difference :D you get spotted first for like 0.2 second? :D

@@vitezslavlorenc3479 it depends on the directions both ships are traveling. First spotted makes a difference. For example in Jager, I can easily hold a Shima spotted while I am unspotted, if I know roughly where he is and what direction he is traveling.

with only 6.5 km range, so you'll almost never be able to use them

@@breadbug6101 in T9 and T10 matches with in almost all match a CV and multiple radars and 1 or 2 subs? not to mention enemy gunboat DDs which can shred you. What will you do with 6,5 km torps, the 8 km torps on Shima are already hard imo. It can be done but very situational imo, and not for most players, but for pro's :)
