I have been washing my pellets in Blue Dawn then put them in the oven to dry in the "keep warm" setting for about 20 minutes then spray coat them with the 2 cycle oil. Once they cool down. I take them and sort them by weight. Then store them by weight. I get about three different weights. Keep them separate cans you get a very consistent shooting day. I normally use the heavier pile for hunting. Just my little humble $0.02 worth info.

I know this vid is two years old but to tell the truth I think crosman pellets are great I have a lot of pellet guns and have tried all kinds of pellets. But to me the crosman hollow point 14.3 and the piranhas 14.3 are some of the best pellets out there and cheap great video man

May I ask what you are shooting the Piranhas out of that makes you like them? I have never seen anyone who likes them for any kind of accuracy so I have stayed away from them. I also am a huge fan of the hollow points. They seem to shoot well in just about everything.

A valid test requires a single variable. It might be worthwhile to compare JSB pellets from one tin, some washed and some left with factory lube. Likewise, compare the un-lubed Crossman's to some that you oil. This wont tell you who makes a "better" pellet but it will tell you the real effect of lubrication.

Thank you. I will certainly try the synthetic 2-stroke engine oil. To date, I've been using FP-10, which is more expensive. All I do is put an open-cell foam liner in the tin, lube it and put the pellets back in. Simple movement from carrying the tin around and reaching in and pulling pellets out does the lubing. No need to bother rolling them around. Additionally, when I first got my Air Force Airguns Talon in .22cal.,(12 years ago) I did extensive testing on as many pellets I could find. The Crosman Premier (domed) and the Beeman Kodiak were the best shooters. The Premier beat the Kodiak by a bit at 25yds and the positions reversed at 40yds. Both were considerably better than anything else. Seems like most guns shoot Premiers at least well, many get excellent accuracy with them.

My theory on why they group better is this; The lubrication allows the rifling of the barrel to work more efficiently and freely. Causing the pellet to rotate or spin, therefore gyrating more revolutions and more velocity, and being less effected by wind resistance, causing less wabble. Like throwing a good spiraling football.

I don't know what the deal is with all of the so called 'self classed expert' airgunners out there that think Crosman pellets are for plinking on the cheap. Crosman pellets are not junk! They are very well made, if Crosman has one inconsistency in their pellets, it's that you can take a tin of 14.3gr domed or HP or pointed and take from out of each tin and weigh them, they all come out to different weights! I weighed 25 domes one night and the average weight was 15.1gr. SO if Crosman were to step up their quality control and start sorting their pellets, they could have a very real chance in the competing world! But of course, that will drive up the price too. Crosman pellets shoot well out of every gun I own. I was really surprised that they were one of the best pellets out of my new last October Weihrauch HW97KT! Shot fantastic out of it! ANd there are the .22 Destroyers from Crosman! In a hunting situation, they are all you need if you want expansion!. They expand better than most other brands HP designed pellets! Destroyer and Polymag are my 2 for hunting, both perform very well out of every gun I have. But because Crosman uses such a hard cast lead, most don't like them in their guns. I will try this method and see if it improves velocity as well as accuracy not that they aren't already accurate.

Very nice review man. Companies just hype up their products for sales. Over the years I've found that generic made products can be made with better quality or work better than top brand names! But also I'd like to note that keeping your barrel bore clean and washing your projectiles in a mild buttery natural oil liquid soap goes a long way! Never use a wire brush in your air rifle bore! It scratches and wears the rifleing! The air gun companies make them a little softer than a firearm because they aren't being put under pressure as much as a firearm.German steel barrel or Japanese is tougher! Be careful.Ed the professional backyard sniper man😂✌

Thank you for the video. Recently got myself a pellet gun and after looking around I believe I'm going to run about 500 pellet through it as comes from factory. Get some fine micro-rifleing acquired. Then I'm going it clean it, no wire or abrasives. Get it spotless and run about 100 lubes with graphite. Looking around I've found that should fill in all micro rifling with graphite and provide a deep lube better than just a wet lube. Likely just lightly dust my pellets with graphite after that and run some cotton rounds through it when I use it to stop any build up.

That's the thing I've been finding out about the Crosman H.P.'so is that I always have "Fliers" whether straight from the tin or washed and lubed. In my Avenger in .22 the piranha'so or the worst at about 3" followed by the pointed Crosman at about 1-1/2 to 2" The Crosman H.P.'so shot the best then the domed next. The Crosman H.P."so shoot well with most groups can be covered by a dime. But because of the "flier" issue they won't group as small as the Air Arms of JSB'some do. But for them being about 1/3 the cost they are great plinking and pest control less than 30 yards.

I've been happy with them..And i can just get them at "the big box store" without having to order them from my favorite online retailer.. Now, in my Hatsan gladius long .25... Nothing but JSB will do.. My belief is once you've sited with a certain brand and weight,(and its settled or broke in)that's the only thing you should shoot from it.. Really,i love the Hatsan for target shooting,but for a El cheapo break barrel,i will grab the swarm, a tin of crosman 14.3 ,head off into the woods for squirrel and you may or may not see me til Sunday..lol

All depends really on the barrel as in my budget SMK QB 78d a cheap pellet called SMK flat black groups best in that at 10m and out preforms the more premium pellets. Crossmam premier goes for around £12 in the UK so there not cheap over hear. The crossman premier domed where not lube either.

Crosman lead and JSB are different alloys. You need to clean barrel between sessions. I use lube 1 chain lube because it is no caustic to orings. Crosman is made in USA and will be easier to obtain as JSB dries up.

If you have ever watched any of the pellet manufacturing videos you can see on UTube, you will see that the manufacturers do not actually 'lube' their pellets. Pellets simply only have an oil residue remaining from the manufacturing process. After being made, they are not washed or anything, the are simply packed into their tins. Shooter who wash their pellets are mainly just removing any swarf contamination. With improved manufacturing standards today, even this is now becoming unnecessary unless you want to weigh out your pellets to refine their batch weights.
@MichaelSmith420fu
@MichaelSmith420fu Жыл бұрын
K. But clearly all manufacturers are not the same and they all produce a variety of pellets so I don't think we could lump this together with every pellet from every manufacturer. Clearly jsb comes with oil on it and crossman's do not.

I have the Sig as well and have tried just about every pellet. My best groups are with H&N barracudas, but the difference between them and Crosman domed is negligible. Since one is readily available at any Walmart, and costs less than half the price of the other, guess which one I use.

I have a Grant let 2 and it shoot really well. But the trigger is horrible. What did you do to lb your trigger to get it where you could shoot smoothly allowing for smaller groups. With mine I usually get 3 shots in one hole and a couple of flyers with every group. Back when I was shooting game short range bench rest there were several that were tying a dry lubricant. Molybdenum Sulfide. But I'm going to try some Redline full synthetic racing oil since I have several gallons of it on hand. I found 6 tins of these in HD yesterday for $ 6.48 ea.. so I bought them all.

Nice! Thanks for the info! Was a very interesting video. Gotta keep this in mind. Do not own any PCPs yet - but maybe someday. .. Have though shot Match, Domed and Destroyer Crosman pellets with my break-barrel rifle and CO2 replica pistols. Not a bad thing to say about Crosman pellets. The Crosman Match pellets gave me 2 absolute bullseye hole-in-ones with my Sig Sauer M17 ASP replica pellet pistol (6metres.standing without rest) - and with a blowback replica pellet pistol you rarely see that.. Yeah.. I am more of a Co2 replica pistol enthusiast, than a match shooter or a hunter. Would like an UX Gauntlet .22 - but I have not seen of those for sale on the European market. Now waiting to see if the Sig Sauer Virtus .22 PCP (soon out on the US market I suppose) will reach my retailers..

You know JSB insists that they don't intentionally lube their pellets. That they make some attempt to clean them after manufacturing but what is on their pellets comes from the machining and pressing process on the production lines. That said, you gotta do what you gotta do. If it works then there ya go...... I personally shoot Crosman Copper Magnums in my .22 with great results and try to stay away from any lead pellets. Even though I would like to get into some heavier rounds, I prefer not fouling my barrel with lead. My .25 is another story. No copper available that I can find and JSB is my goto. Love the Hades line.

@shawndubay4050

Could cause dieseling/ignition due to the flammability of the oil under compression like a diesel engine. Compressed air gets pretty hot. If you care about your break barrel airgun I personally wouldn't do that. It could cause damage to the seals and piston. Besides if it does diesel it will sound like a .22 rim fire shooting a super sonic round.
