This is the original banana pudding. The one and only true way to make it. My great aunt used to make it this way and my God, talk about delicious 😋🤤. Thanks for this video. It's needed for the younger generation. Some things just taste so much better when they're actually made from scratch. Not that instant quick stuff people are passing off as banana pudding. If you can cook/bake from scratch, You can cook in my opinion! 😏😉

@Lady Day people love these foil pans nowadays. I'm 38 and I feel like in the last 10 years you always see foil pans. Banana pudding in my house was always made in a glass pan and you had to layer it nicely. I don't even see people make banana pudding anymore. Thank God for KZfaq.

@Lady Day Oh my lordy Lady Day, I remember the day of the double boiler, that's how my grandmother made it in her day. But with the invention of Teflon and so much non stick cookware now a days why in the world would you still be using the double boiler method. You saw in the video that my pudding didn't stick at all. Give yourself a break girl and just use a non stick pan. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Many blessings.

Im from a small ga town my granma cooked homemade everything and one of my favorite was her banana pudding. From the oven (the real way) i never learned how she did it... Thank you for this video! This is AUTHENTIC banana pudding. I can’t stand that no-bake, cold, instant “banana pudding”. My family and I are from Chicago, some from Mississippi. I grew up eating banana pudding homemade and baked. The kitchen always smelled divine! Both my family in the Midwest and South make it from scratch and bake it with a meringue topping. My family use evaporated milk or condensed milk in their recipe. Banana pudding is soul food dessert in my family. I’ve never made it myself, but I will someday. Miss this sweet, warm, and addicting dessert!

Love it. I used to have my mom make banana pudding for my birthday every year rather than a cake. She used to cringe every time I'd say don't forget my birthday pudding. ;) . Anyway, she always made it from scratch and the taste is night & day from using instant pudding (which she tried to fool me with one year, but I totally busted her on - to her credit, when I came home from work the next day, she had the real deal waiting for me.) She also used to crumble a few wafers on top of the meringue, plus we live in south florida, so after baking appeared from the "sweating", it appeared as though there were little dew drop looking speckles all over the surface. It was the best banana pudding ever! RIP, Mom .

Looks great. I'm going to try it. My mom made this, the difference is vanilla extract only and the milk. She used pet milk in the can and diluted it. It gave it a very rich taste. The best I've ever had. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for sharing your banana pudding recipe. It's absolutely just like how mom made hers before she died, 2009. And for years I had longed to remember all of the ingredients but couldn't recall all of it and as I'd watched this video everything came back to my remembrance. And yes, no lie it's the same exact recipe except for the pouring on top of the pudding my mom did hers in layers. Otherwise, it's all done the same way. WOW And with tears in my eyes I remember how mom would make this dish for me to show me how much she loved me. Thank you mam.

I have not had REAL Banana pudding since my Mother In Law passed 6 years ago. She was from New Orleans and always told me that I had to learn this recipe and I would tell her why you always make it I don’t need to. We haven’t had it in years and now I’ve found you! This is what my grandma banana pudding looked like. I try to order it when I go out to eat at soul food restaurants but I’d be so disappointed because it doesn’t look like this. My grandma has been dead for about as long as I’ve been an adult and I never got the recipe. So I searched KZfaq. Now I have a based to work with and some shopping to do. Thanks for sharing.

I agree, wayy too sweet. I've made this 5 times now and only use 1 & 1/4 cup of sugar rather than 2 cups.

I was raised to put my vanilla wafers down not overlapping and the rip bananas the same, till you get the pan as full as you want. Then you pour the vanilla pudding over the wafers and bananas. Then you make your maringue on top then you put in the oven on top rack on broil till it browns. Doesn't take long.

My Grandmother Ida used to make a big batch of banana pudding every time I came to visit...never had anything like it since. I still remember the big old depression glass bowl she used and how you could see the vanilla wafers lined up inside, just waiting for me to dive in. Best ever.

Best old fashioned Banana pudding On Utube ever but no lemon extract for me this is the way my Grandma taught several generations to make it and she was from South Carolina I can make the Quick custard one as well but the original cooked custard one is absolutely the best it’s so rich and absolutely delicious keep teaching this recipe it’s passed down from generations so we can know what heavenly desert taste like awesome job I love it

My family love the way I cook banana pudding. Girlfriend, I love the way you prepare your pudding. It is easy your way. Trust me, I will try your recipe , it looks so good. Next, I will go on a diet. Love banana pudding , usually I eat a large portion of my pudding ( I always give my family a very small portion of it ) smile . Can't wait to try your recipe !

I clicked on this video thinking that I was going to see a recipe using fake pudding from a box. But God! He knows how I prefer to make the real deal so He led me to you! We have the simplest foods we be actin like is so special and sacred This don’t take much to do U can’t mess it up Like potato salad “can’t eat anybody potato salad” Bro U can’t mess that up (I mean Unless u mayonnaise complexioned then anything is possible)
