First the clutch pedal was eliminated. Staging, shutting down, releasing the chutes and even shifting has been automated now. On some of today’s Pro Mod’s there is little left for a driver to control other than the throttle, brake and steering wheel.
Following the current path of Pro Mod automation, we forecast that the next step would be eliminating the driver completely. Removing human error can lead to tremendous advancements on the racetrack, so we have engineered a solution to solve this problem.
It is our pleasure to introduce the world’s first fully automated, driverless race car. Check out video for a demonstration of the new system.

I drove a 6.60 nitrous car up until 2005. We had a Bruno/Lenco 3speed lever shift. Me and Dad were ahead of our time for sure!

And in 2022 there are actual driverless racecars. They've even held races with driverless cars. But in reality, even when you guys made this video it was possible for someone to retrofit a car that could be controlled via remote control. Servos mainly. Grant Imahara RIP knew the ins and outs of doing that. They use driverless cars in movies too. For crash scenes where using a human would be too dangerous.

Automation is amazing. However this takes all the skill out of driving the car. With the current automation available. Like transmission breaks and delay boxes. The skill / driver is eliminated. The human factor needs to apply. How it effects you, like temp and other conditions that can't be replicated on a computer. It just becomes a big video game.

+slowpoke96z28 the Tesla model S is driverless you can see the videos from inside just search "tesla autopilot" in the youtube search. Now they are coming out with a new car in 2017 the Tesla Model 3 it will have this autopilot, 0-60 in 6 sec, electric and only $30 000

+slowpoke96z28 Just go to the Tesla youtube channel. The title of the video is "Tesla Unveils Model 3". Tesla is made in the USA, in Fremont California. The batteries for the cars are also made in the USA in the largest battery factory in the world which is in Nevada. They have a current model called the Tesla Model S P85D , this car does a 0-60 in 3 seconds and a 1/4 mile in 11, it also has a range of 295 miles all on battery power. It is a $100K car though.
