45:20 So, Where Is the Reclining Buddha?
During my time in Yangon, I'd become more interested in reclining Buddha images. So when I learned that possibly the largest reclining Buddha in the world was located just south of Mawlamyine, I made immediate plans to check it out. I decided to rent a scooter for the day, and I set off as early as I could manage.
I ended up visiting a well-known pagoda first, and this video is all about my climb up to that pagoda. My visit to the reclining Buddha itself is in the next video.
Cheers,
Douglas (AKA The Cycling Canadian)

Thanks! Did you get to know Daryl when you were in KL? He recently interviewed Remote Darren, who I think you included in your video about some of your favorite travel vlogs. Maybe Daryl tracked you down as well? By the way, I like your idea of spending a full 30 days in each of those places. If my count is right, you've reached 9 countries. Where to next?

To be a tourist can be like hard work if you want to visit all the beautiful sites and can be exhausting, I understand your comments about aging as Iam 67 and while my health lasts can still visit most sights that I want to visit. I find it a challenge and can be very rewarding experience, but I think keeping fit is very important, I regularly go to the gym whenever one is available while travelling and at home go to one 4 or 5 times a week. Well done on your achievements here, especially in bear feet you pushed yourself to the limit all credit to you!

I'm not sure if I was serious about aging and how it feels. It's not something I think about very much. I just kind of do whatever I want to do, and my body usually comes through for me. But that was an odd day, and I really was surprised that I was breathing so heavy and for so long. I'm hoping it was a combination of the heat, the hot stones on my feet, talking into the camera, and just being in a foreign environment. I guess the true test will come if I ever manage to get on the road with my bicycle again. 🙂

It was definitely nice to climb up a little bit and get some views of the countryside. Everything looks so different (and usually better) once you go up a bit higher and get a nice perspective.

Brilliant episode! Thank you for taking us along. Beautiful scenery. I am glad you are hitting the gongs now! That’s a very good outcome of your 5-acts challenge. I think you are too hard on yourself: I am a bit younger but definitely out of breath when trying to climb on this type of climate! Not mentioning having to talk at the same time! And burning/cutting your feet... Conditions are definitely difficult! But it was really worth the effort you made for us. You definitely deserve your cold drink. I wish you monetise your videos so that we can contribute a tiny bit to your well-being. Continue the great work!

It was a bit of an odd day from the point of view of being out of breath. I wasn't kidding that I have felt less physically fit lately, but it's not usually that bad. The climb to that pagoda really wasn't that high, but I was so out of breath the whole time and even hyperventilating. It was weird. I blame it on talking into the camera and burning my feet. 😀

Nice adventure, yeah the body usually peak after 40s, everyone will go through it in life... no matter who you are. Also, pls drink lots of water, especially in Myanmar, very easy to dehydrate and you might faint alone. Watch out and take care and of course enjoy :)

No, I don't think I would call it hardship. Of course, I always find hot weather to be difficult. And it's challenging when you don't speak the local language and are alone. But, for me, there is far more pleasure than hardship.
