World's Longest Spiral Staircase - Canton Tower Spider Walk

The Spider Walk up the Canton Tower in Guangzhou China is the world's longest spiral staircase - 1028 steps and a 1km long walkway which takes you up one third the height of the world's second highest tower! Pity the walk isn't downwards! Enjoy the walk without the hard work!

Kiki Depp Salvino The walk does have clear glass floors that look down on the previous spiral...makes for some very unusual visuals :-)

There may have been some - cannot remember - there were certainly some toilets where you start the ascent.

I can't recall exactly but I believe it was something like 20 minutes - would have been a lot easier to do the journey downwards!

Oh my! So what if you were really fat? Would the clear sections in the floor be able to support such weight, or would you go crashing to your doom?

Wrong, the White County Coal LLC, Pattiki Mine, Carmi, Illinois, USA by Systems Control in May 1981 measures 336m 1103ft deep with 1520 steps is longest

The stairs are quite spacious..it really isn't a risk.

Interesting :) But not enough for me to go to Germany with my tapemeasure...and walk up and down that whole tower :) But now it's on the internet... someone will. or come up with stats at least :)

It has over 1000 steps, so it's part ramp and part stairway

Not sure how they measure it...perhaps transmission towers don't count for that record - the Canton Tower in Guangzhou has a Guinness World Record for it, that's all I know :-)

+Lattice Climb2005a It's one of the tallest towers in the world, so the views were amazing - was a hard effort to climb though, especially given how hot and humid it was!

Incorrect. The Longest staircase in the world is located in rhe White County Coal LLC, Pattiki Mine, in Carmi Illinois. It consists of 1520 steps and is 336m and 1103ft deep

I agree - that's what Guinness World Records say - I based the information on the sign on the wall in Canton Tower saying that the Spider Walk is the longest of its type, and it's referred to in this Asian world records webpage (with a link to my video) worldkings.org/news/asia-records-institute/worldkings-worldkings-news-asia-canton-tower-spider-walk-the-longest-spiral-staircase-in-the-world
