Staring to the wall is low key a great advice. We often forget what it is like to be bored and we tend to avoid it nowadays way too easily. Being bored and get comfortable with that is a superpower to do the better thing.
@PhOdAsTiCk6194 ай бұрын
Forcing myself into boredom has completely changed my productivity, whenever I realize I'm procrastinating, I drop everything and lie in bed staring at the ceiling, until I get bored, then the task I need to do becomes infinitely more interesting than staring at the ceiling. It has been working perfectly for me for several weeks.

1. CHUCK 'EM IN THE AVOID-AT-ALL-COSTS PILE: select top prioritized ones from all of 'em 2. MAKE A SCHEDULE: break tasks into smaller chunks and make a day-week wise schedule (should be flexible, real) 3.PLAN YOUR DAY THE NIGHT BEFORE 4. Best productivity mazafakas 1. Write down goals for this year (or even next five) 2. Write down 25 career goals you want, leave only 5 of them 3. Break down those goals into daily/weekly tasks There should be 2 non negotiables. (Must do’s I have no choice but to do e.g. study session 7-9 AM) 4. Plan next day at night to not waste energy 5. Merry Seinfeld technique - when uninspired to work, stare at a blank wall - don’t get distracted by a phone (learn to be bored, work out of boredom) 6. DEEP WORK - Carl Newports book - maximum focus and no distractions for 90 minutes of work (NO PHONE) 7. Read books, journal and meditate

This is golden advice. I've noticed it through practice, if you plan ahead your tasks, you don't waste energy thinking about what to do and falling victim to the endless scrolling trap. If you put more than 4-5 little tasks besides your studies and your 9-5 (if you're in this position) each day, you're probably failing right at the second or third, getting unmotivated because of "failure" and ditching the others. Just choose 2 or 3 really important for each day, do them and enjoy the rest.

The only thing I might add is "remove barriers to entry" meaning that, if you have your schedule written down in a notebook, have your notebook close at hand. If it's at the bottom of your bookbag, it's going to be ignored because to access it takes far more work than just carrying the notebook in your pocket or purse or satchel or something. If you never look at the goals or schedule or plan, then the first three points are almost pointless. Unless you just memorize it all lol

Here's a rough summary with my own added stuff for myself which might or might not be useful to serve as a reminder for yourselves: Minimize and prioritize - Write on the goals you want to achieve. Write them all down and then cut them down to the top 5. These are the 5 you will focus on. Schedule - Break down the goals to weekly and daily bites and slot them into the daily/ weekly schedule. Specifically into time blocks. Start small 30 or 60 minutes and aim to get to at least 90 minutes as a way to optimize normal fluctuation of focus. Keep it flexible and make 2 non-negotiables. Plan your day - Planning ahead of time allows you to free energy for the tasks themselves. This saves time as you already know what to do. Play with boredom - Dubbed “The Jerry Seinfeld Technique” where you stare at something, wall or screen. Just do not use your phone or distract your mind. Deep Work - Maximize time and focus by doing deep work (more work less time). Goal is 90 minutes. ELIMINATE distractions as this will split your focus and lead to worse performance than a 50/50 split as it will require time to get back into the groove of a task each time you switch. Read Books, meditate, journal - Books give your brain a workout as you have to actively engage. Meditating allows your mind to adapt better to “boring” tasks which usually are not instantly gratifying. Journaling allows for reflection and preparation. One technique which can be used is the vomit method. Where you write everything that comes into your thoughts. This way you can get rid of it especially if it's distracting.
