So Peter Francisco is worth looking into. The legend of him carrying an 1,100 pound cannon stemmed from the aftermath of the Battle of Camden (1780) during the American Revolution. It is said upon the Americans retreating upon losing this battle, he'd noticed that they had left a very powerful cannon behind that would fall into enemy hands. He freed it from its anchor supports and carried it back. This part is up for grabs, I believe it but I think aspects of it are pretty fucking hyperbolic. With that being said about the legend of Peter Francisco, the dude was a giant and a warrior that fought for the foundation of the United States and fought in many battles and getting seriously injured on more than one occasion. I had to look him up a little bit and he's a badass worthy of the Dankulas Mad Lads.

Hey Charlie, the World Weightlifting Championships just finished, you could check out some of the crazier things that happened during that, like USA placing 1st and 2nd with North Korea 3rd, the first USA world champs win in decades. Lu Xiaojun matching his career best with an injured back, dude literally laid on the ground with ice on his back for like 15 minutes then went out and actually won. And of course Lasha Talakhadze's utter domination of gravity, space, time, and every other weightlifter in history. This is a man who'd be too dangerous to put in a slap contest because it would be an apocalyptic event.

@thatrespectablehuman18844 жыл бұрын
getting to their level requires lots of things, genetics first of all, and then second of all comes the commitment, you're taking years off your life, loading yourself up with drugs, getting injured is just a part of your training, snaps and pops abound, and all for the hope of maybe being at the top... or not. definitely respectable but also seems like a fool's errand in lots of ways, and when you consider that they have families...

That Peter Francisco guy is quite an interesting fella. Abducted as a kid in the Azores (islands between europe (900mi) and america (1600mi) and dropped of in Virginia. wiki: When he was old enough to work, he was apprenticed as a blacksmith, a profession chosen because of his massive size and strength (he grew to be six feet and eight inches in height, or 203 centimeters, and weigh some 260 pounds, or 118 kilograms, especially large at the time). It was also noted that his hair may have turned silver at an early age. He was well known as the Virginian Hercules or the Virginia Giant.
