The Gurkha soldiers were so brave that even Japanese soldiers feared them during World War II.

@@christophermichaelclarence6003 The documents from that time say that the Japanese were tormented by Gurkha soldiers dressed in green clothes who would snipe at them from the treetops. For this reason, the Japanese troops marched to avoid villages where the Gurkha soldiers were.

Soldiers from Nepal. Feared because of their skilled use of those knives. Fierce even in modern times. Read about Acting Sergeant Dipprasad Pun, who single handedly fought off an attack on his base by 30 Taliban insurgents, and continued the fight even after running out of ammunition.

These guys are magnificent, they are totally loyal and exceptional soldiers. They deserve better recognition and would be my choice of protection at any cost. They used to be looked down upon and paid less by our ungrateful nation I hope that still isn't the case. Fantastic nation and soldiers they have my 100% respect.

We were with those wonderful people in Hong Kong in the 60s. You couldn't meet a nicer bunch of soldiers! They were so proud to be in the Btritish Army! They are known to be very fierce in battle. I am now a great grandma, but I have fond memories, as I had the privilege to meet soome of their wives, also.❤

some years back not long before "lockdown" when I could come down to the Trooping of the Colour, after the event I always went to St James's Park and went to those shops at Horseguards to buy thing to give to my son as presents. and this young man came up to the gates and said to me. "Do you know what I am. to which I answered I certainly do young man and the smile on his face was beautiful so happy that I knew. we had a little chat before I went into the small shop the nearest one to the Palace to buy some gifts for my son. as I did every year. The ladies in the shop got to expect me after each and every event. I also loved their museum a bit lower down and I also went to the Chapel to look at all the banners commemorating the battles

Fantastic . I would not like to get on the wrong side of the Gurkhas . They see to have the respect of both military and non military people . That was why the Agrarians give up in the Falklands . They herd a rumour we wear going to put them a shore

One of our ‘ celebs’ was being given an award by the Queen when moving forward he stumbled slightly ,he said when he looked up one of the GURKAS behind the Queen had already taken a step forward and had his hand on his Kukri knife, he said his blood went cold.

Oh my word, is this true? The Gurkhas are just NOT to be messed with and I find it hard to believe at an award ceremony, the Gurkhas have the Kukri with them. Still, what do I know.? An exemplary, fearless group of men. So, so, relieved to know they still support the UK. We are, and should be, enormously grateful.

These are the guys who, during World War II, would crawl up to a sentry and feel the boot laces to see if he was Japanese or British. Japanese soldiers used a criss-cross pattern on their boots while British soldiers had the straight over pattern. Guess you can work out what happened to those with a criss-cross pattern.

Their Battle Honours are legendary. The standards are very high. The entrance test is hard and gruelling and only the very best get to be selected for further training into the British Armed Forces. The soldiers and their families see this as a great honour to serve the King and Commonwealth - personally I think it is a great honour for us.
