In this video, we show you the process of a rebuild on some pretty well-loved (almost destroyed) BuilderPro™ work boots.
NOTE: We offer this rebuild service for less than the price of a new pair of boots. This provides a service to our customers at a great value. The rebuild allows you to keep your broken-in upper and refresh the portions that receive the most wear and tear.
While most boots are meant to be thrown away after a few months, Nicks are built to last. When your boots start to need some servicing, you can send them in to have them resoled or completely rebuilt! Nicks Handmade Boots are serviceable and last years longer than a mass-produced boot. Since 1964, Nicks has been making the highest quality boots on the market, right here in Spokane Washington. If you're tired of your old work boots wearing out, upgrade to Nicks and enjoy the most comfortable boots on the market.

Damn I love Nick's, I've got an old black pair for firefighters that I have used for something like 5 or more years. Still have tread, no holes, no separations, stitching is fine. Just seriously incredible boots that have definitely proven the value to me. If I spend $150-200 for say duty boots from any major brand I get maybe a year and a half at max before than fail. Nick's are worth it

I have to say they don't make them like they used, I have a pair of catipillar pots I bought with my first pay check they are 22 years old now and I only stopped wearing them a few years ago and only ecause one heel wore down at a funny angle (I've torn the ligaments in 1 ankel about 6 times over the last 20 period so hears) and I have gone thorough so many boots and hiking boots in the last 10nor so years all in the same price range about 200euro and they just don't make them to last anymore.

@Matt Kaculis I would order a second pair but I'm still waiting on my first its been 3 ¹/2 weeks on a quick ship stock boot . I'm a farmer and I'm hoping to have mine broken in before planting season which Is 3 weeks away . If not I'm going to stick to redwing as I can't wait months on end . I really like their quality and reputation but time is of the essence for me . After the first week of April I'm too busy for breaking in a new pair of boots while working 12 to 16 hour days until July. I'm still going to try nicks it will have to wait I guess . I've heard some guys say they've waited 3 or 4 months which is crazy .

If you call remaking at least 3/4 of the boots from scratch restoring. Still, this was great for seeing how they are put together and just how far gone they can be and still be brought back. The skill that goes into doing that is insane and I'm guessing Nick's is one of the few places to learn to do that kind of work. Most places use machines for a lot of that. When they say 'hand made' they darn well mean it.

When I would help my grandfather when I was a teen, doing those Vibram "tractor" sole we did them a little different. We would glue the rubber midsole to leather primary sole, scrap it to bring the rubber fibers up, then we would stich them together. Then scrape or slightly course sand the vibram sole and apply Barge glue cement to boot and sole, let fully dry and scrape the glue on both and reapply glue again. Once almost tacky dry we would assemble. Use a few nails to secure tip toe and rear. And pretty much finish it like the video. Those sole never came off.

@@Totemparadox that looks cheap, there is a lot of work in breaking the old ones down. $300 is a lot of money but only about half the cost for new ones, so it makes sense. Soles typically are $20 and cost can range on the eyelets, not everyone wants or needs them replaced. Same with stitching, some rebuilds only need the leather insole replaced. It just depends really, no two rebuilds are going to be the same. This a more extreme example. So it is more the cost of the leather hide which can range depending on what part needs recrafted.

They cant contact the foot. Delamination of the sole is a common failure in hard use work boots. The screws prevent that.

They look amazing, and the craftsmanship is second to none. However... why would anyone do this? Sure... the uppers are broken in like the person likes them, but this restoration had to cost more than simply buying a new pair of boots from Nicks. I don't really see the purpose.

How come is it a restoration? In reality, you have built the whole shoe from scratch except the neck, thus, technically, you made a new shoe. It ain't restoration.

Every single part of the boot failed and had to be replaced even the holes for the shoelaces how is this a good thing for a brand with $600 pair of boots?
@TheSynchronizer
@TheSynchronizer 2 жыл бұрын
In most cases boot rebuilds are a package the customer pays for, it's not that it's required but even if the parts aren't failing they're still replaced as part of the package. From what I've seen in the comments, most pairs last 5-10 years between rebuilds. Try getting that ammount of life out of off the shelf boots.

@@Totemparadox all the parts that went into the garbage which in fact was 90% of the boot did so because it was no longer a good part it had been worn out and could not be made usable. I can appreciate new heels and resole but I would have to assume with some nominal care the rest of the boot would hold up. I have much less expensive leather boots and shoes that I've had for some in excess of 30 years they look brand new with a little spit and shine so leather lasts very long.

@@paulgeek Are they dedicated hard labor work boots? Not one of the parts you mentioned failed. The lower was worn out from years of hard use and the eyelets and hooks were changed cause it's fast, easy and makes it so that they don't fail from too much wear.

For the generation of why not buy a new pair of boots? It's like they saved only a little bit of the old pair, it's simple so I will tell you. The boots have carried the man through everything he had to endure to get to now, beat up ,worn and damaged to a degree but there's still a lot left in them with a purpose to continue. They're my boots and you don't throw them away because they are a memory of the journey. That is why don't matter the cost , trouble or time,some things you hold on to simply because.
