@PilotPianoGuy3 жыл бұрын
Exactly my friend
@HumanBeingSpawn3 жыл бұрын
Please explain
@MrMinimanmatt3 жыл бұрын
@@HumanBeingSpawn so air speed as the name implies is the speed at which the air is flowing over the aerofoils (wings) this generates lift. So more air speed equals more lift keeping the plane in the sky. Ground speed is the speed of the aircraft relative to the ground. The difference being important as shown in this case is as follows... Say a light aircraft needs 90 knots of airspeed to generate enough lift to remain airbourne. That aircraft flies into a head wind of 80 knots, that means that to maintain enough lift that aircraft needs a ground speed of 10 knots to maintain lift. This is the reason that this plane looks like its hovering as the airspeed is enough over the wings to maintain lift even though there is very little forward movement. Hope that explains it as simply as possible
@Countess_Samar_SprayArt3 жыл бұрын
@@HumanBeingSpawn Mateus Bully said it perfect. Sometimes you may get lucky and see a planes shadow moving along the ground. If you can follow that shadow or even move fast enough to stay right next to it, look at your speedometer and you will know the ground speed of that aircraft. Good smooth fast ground speed is what everyone on a plane wants especially on the airlines. But when you are training to become a pilot, you will learn a technique called Slow Flight in which you control your altitude by your power. With full flaps you maintain altitude by how much power you give. Sometimes you can have the right condition during slow flight that your planes shadow is actually moving backwards. Kind of creepy for onlookers, but very fun to do at the controls.

That's amazing Landing I wonder how much space it takes to take off though
@ChuckieFinzter2 жыл бұрын
In that wind condition I bet they could take off with full flaps a pull on the stick and no forward movement.

150 feet is the standard for this plane with no wind.It will do way shorter than that.That is just what the kit manufacturers recommend.

The shortest landing where you can re-use the plane just by starting the engine after having your lunch over there next to the plane ;-)

Talk about hanging it on the prop right on the verge of a stall. Great landing for sure. I’ve seen them have a competition to see who can break the record of shortest landing. Stay safe out there everyone
@laprepper3 жыл бұрын
The plane was hanging on the wings, to hang on the prop the prop needs to be pointed toward the sky with the tail pointed towards the ground.
@ChuckieFinzter2 жыл бұрын
There's no stall.. The fwd movement the aircraft would have had was negated by the head wind.

All due to a huge head wind, flaps, and a talented pilot!

That is a zero speed touchdown. But pretty sure Mike's Scrappy would be able to have negative speed (a.k.a. going backwards) while landing with this wind.

Can't get much shorter than that.

The only way to do a shorter landing is to not land at all
