TIMING MARKS CHEVROLET 1.6 1.8 CRUZE SONIC AVEO TIMING TOOL
In this video we will show you the timing marks on Chevrolet Cruze or Chevrolet Sonic with 1.8 engine. You will need special tool for setting the timing marks and replacing the the timing belt. We demonstrated on a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze but Chevrolet Sonic uses the same engine.

I did mine without the locking tool and without removing the valve cover even though i have the tool. 😂 Easy job.

oh man you are saving me ! on my car the dots on camshafts are not in the good position and i was struggling to find the correct position. but with the camshaft locking tool i found it, thx a lot

skinn15 If the cams were not lined up (the 2 dots) and you couldn’t get the camshaft locking tool in place, how did you get the cams lined up? Can you hand turn the cams?

Great info. Could you elaborate a little bit more on the Camshaft sensor and the issue arising from the error code P0016.

I'm ready to remove my 1.6 Aveo timing belt and then the head but although I have TDC marks underneath and the two dots on the cams align just like you showed, I cannot place the slotted tool on the other end of the cam shafts because the slot is below the rim of the head. In order to get that slotted tool in place, my dots on the cam sprockets would be 180 degrees off. What's going on with this engine?

i have a 2010 aveo same engine dual avcs keeps breaking the exhaust cam bolt. have you seen this? what could cause a cam bolt to snap?

Hi. All marks as you show. But we have timing DTC and I checked with scope both cam and crank it shows 14° diff on intake shaft

Help! Took camshaft sprockets off, without the tool holding the back of the camshafts. My cranks at TDC, but now what? The cam sprockets just spin.

I'm stumped, I bought a 2011 aveo with 1.6 and the car has no power and I was told the timing belt was replaced before I got the car, I suspected the timing to be off one notch or so so I checked the timing and someone timed the engine with the wrong dot on the intake cam and it was nearly 90 degrees out of time on the intake so I retimed the engine like I have seen everyone else do and the car had zero compression, put the timing back like it was and it runs, I checked the timing 20 times or more and it was just like all the videos and pictures I had seen but no compression

Im having some issues with my cruze 1.8L, i thought the maf was bad so i ran some live data, its got a loss of power bad, while running the engine at 2,000 rpm i noticed my ignition timing was advanced 45 degrees @2,000 rpm, is this normal for these motors? The car has 75k on it so i dont think anyone put a belt on it yet, im not sure what to do…
