Just like that, we're back into training.
In this video, I hit a log ladder, monster db EMOM and a sandbag medley. Currently sitting five weeks out from World's and my body is feeling good.

@@highviewbarbell clearly you and @eric dont follow these guys to much and realize the expenses that come along with the lifestyle these guys are living. Travel, gym fees, food, supplements, getting treatments cuz most of these top tier strongman are always sore and battling injuries. Not saying hes scraping im just saying hes not out there living the luxerious lifestyle with that money. Its all being put towards furthering himself in his career.

I agree @ being gassed and expanding the lungs makes a good day. Did frog hops with a barbell today in my backyard and got that effect. I chase it at the end of every leg day. Doing it outside in the cold definitely helps achieve it lol

I don't know how you could train for this, but I live here, so I can tell you the humidity is awful. Its like training in a sauna. Even the cooler days are say 85f (yes, that's a cooler day here), so 30 or so celsius, easily feels over 100f. Hopefully the temperatures are nice and cool that week, its in April so shouldn't be terrible, but I thought Id tell you in case you didn't know.

@@dantethunderstone2118 I always assumed is was because in hotter places there is a higher chance of having good wether to do events outside. Having rain or snow sounds horrible to do events in (which is why for example magnus classic is so brutal). But idk in 2020 they had it during hurricane season in florida...

For the sand you could use a hill with a very very gradual slope, like just 2-5%, not uncomfortable or dangerous but enough that you can feel it, and run that sideways both directions to accustom yourself to the inch or two difference of the little sand pits

Oh well, I enjoyed the Arnolds, pay to view the British shows, am a member of the Shaw Club so I watch and contribute monthly toward that, then look forward to the Rogue Invitational... but no WSM viewing because CBS does a lousy job with coverage... it makes no sense.

Important to get right (monster dumbell) = two of toughest competitors, Novikov, and Mateusz, excel at it, and so to stay in top 2 or 3 of event, gotta try and challenge those two, or at least hang with them. Looks like Mitch is just training one side. Since Mitch analyzes everything, I wonder why he has decided not to follow Shaw in being ambidextrous. Not doing it here because its a max dumbell, rather than for reps? Or just feels too awkward with the other hand?
@inlimboed91
@inlimboed91 Жыл бұрын
Don't want to speak for him, but if it's a max there seems to be no real utility in training it with both hands. Like, I presume shotputters don't train both arms as they only ever need to use one. If it's for reps you might get something out of switching arms, but Novikov is the best dumbbell presser in the world by a mile and he only ever uses one arm.

Some people do, some don't. The issue is its so technical and not necessarily a "top end strength" type of event. Look at how Novikov makes it effortless, but 100% he is not even a Top 5 Presser in terms of static strength
@andrewsmith8355
@andrewsmith8355 Жыл бұрын
Brian is the only one I have seen do it , but coming from a novice it seemed like it would of cause potential issues with other lifts. If it's more technical than brute strength that makes more sense. My OCD wouldn't let me do that though
