This match literally broke my heart in 1987, but you have to hand it to Dennis Taylor. He never knew when he was beaten.

Alex celebrated with his manager with a case of champagne when 8-5 up. Dennis got wind of this and it inspired him to him with the same determination that helped him win the 85 worlds. Taylor was very consistent in the mid 1980’s.

Only Alex can make you feel sad for weeks after he throws away big leads...all the pressure in the world arrives...and it becomes impossible to win!!!! But when he does..Boom!!!

Always enjoy watching these old matches. Higgins had flair but mentally he was always weak. Taylor got through a lot of matches just by sheer grit.

If anyone can remember the match. Higgins threw it away. He had heaps of chances then it went to a decider 🤦♂️

Apparently Higgins wanted desperately to be the first man to step on the moon, but Neil Armstrong managed that milestone already.

The house I grew up in had a two car garage that the previous owners had converted into an impractically huge parlor. It had the biggest windows I'd ever seen...until now.

@13Mitten99 it's a joke about Dennis Taylor's glasses
@scoldedcat2 жыл бұрын
His glasses were hand-me-downs from his Grandfather, who was almost 7" tall with a head the size of a mallee bull

Great match ruined by the weird decision to make old footage fit into a modern format. The size of the table is the same so just run it without trying to make it fit the frame

Poor cueball control in those days, no wonder Stephen Hendry can dominate the game in those days.

@@kjbennie9245 because the pockets we wayyyy bigger then.....amatures from today would wipe the floor with these 2 even in their primes because thr game has evolved and there is more understanding of the whole game now

@@chrisjenkins5846 which is great! Still, to watch them make good shots and do great break building under any circumstance is awesome...no matter what era . Look at other sports lol. Oo golf !!?? How did poor jack play wirh those primitive conditions? Or hockey?! Lol. Watching an 84" game is like watching amateurs haha. People like urself bash and ridicule the older generations. But still, they had to go out there and perform and execute no matter the circumstances. Lets praise them instead....and give them great credit

@@chrisjenkins5846 Numpty! The pockets weren't way bigger unless you are talking about pool. The tables weren't as high a standard nor were the cues. Of course the game progressed, it wouldn't have only for those few professionals. Many of who scraped a living. So take a humble pill and appreciate they were good for their time.

Dennis Taylor would be the biggest prick to play against always an element of gamesmanship when he’s playing people no wonder Higgins hated him and no wonder Davies hated him when he beat him in 85 as well

Can’t stand Taylor playing or in commentary. Would have loved to see Higgins head butt him
