EPIC Tank Crash Recovery 🤯 675 Gallon SPS Tank!!

Vic visits Jason who has a beautiful 675 gallon SPS dominant aquarium. His tank crashed a while back causing him to lose 90% of his corals. He recently started building his aquarium back up and it is now a thriving reef tank. Multiple acropora frags has grown into huge coral colonies. What impresses Vic the most is the amount of coloration the corals are displaying and how Jason was able to make such an amazing comeback with the tank.

Jason is a coral seller as well - he was at Reefapalooza. Nice guy, great corals. He had some kind of lighting issue where the blues wouldn't come on so it was hard to tell what his acros looked like - but I bought one anyway, and it looks great. Later I saw a RAP recap video where his blues were on, I wish I had bought more - they looked fantastic.

Great tank Jason, wow those colours are really popping 👌🏼 I trick for vermidid snails was bubble bee snails, stop broadcast feeding for a month & starter coral snowing the tank & the population dropped , I have a couple tiny ones left but not annoying any corals & when I see they do I get a dentist tooth stick in there & brake them up & the tangs & angels go mad for any flesh from them .

I don’t think he’s following that tank too closely because there is no way he’s growing corals at 6.5. I run my calcium reactor at 6.5 so that should tell you something. If he wants a really nice tank, bump it up to 8dkh and calibrate that ph probe Mr 8.6 😂. Beautiful set up - love it! Happy reefing 👍🏻🍻🤛🏻

I believe it I’ve always ran my tanks on low alk for many years now even all the way down to 5.5dkh on my old full blown high end sps system I find it’s easier on corals since natural seawater is similarly low in the 6 and 7 range

Definitely contributing, but I've always run oversized or multiple skimmers on my systems and I usually battle low ph due to all the calcium reactor effluent

My 150 gallon reef gave me so much trubble tear it down had so many people this time it's running 10 months the water cemetery and water is so amazing clear I know if I work at it I know I can get it running right I have over top fitter s is getting filtration system is 240 gallon canerster filter system plus 4 hang on fitter s. My coral s starting to grow . Even though had what ever problem I had I watched the coral s I let them tell what is going on . Better they get more improvement s and the first as so happy once I got alge stage growing 9 months late then I knew I was getting closer to the end. I add lawn mower blenly he's doing great job and other clean up crew . It's nice to have coral dealer met on Facebook Market place he helped me out but he said not all Aquarium s saltwater are the same. I stopped water changes change out light and heater after that wow.
