Brotherhood isnt a sequel, it's a canon anime. The original FMA anime was forced to make it's own ending due to lack of source material at the time. Once the Manga finished, they were able to make an anime that covers the full intended story...so you can watch both but brotherhood is the full animated version of the source material. I'd say give it 4 eps.

i've been listening to the old Weekly planet episodes and hearing him call Brotherhood a sequel almost killed me. As an avid anime watcher I couldn't help screaming at my computer " its not a fucking sequel" even tho I know its not their fault but it triggered me so badly. 😂😂😂

@@tomkeast5246 I think it only cuts down the very beginning like the first volume of the manga. Due to the fact that the first anime covers that seeing how that was the only bit of manga that was out at the time for them to follow. So pretty sure Brotherhood just decided to skip that aspect. Seeing how the other already covered it and that it actually isn't important to the overall plot of the series. Other then that I have read the manga and from what I remember it's basically a 1 for 1 comparison with them leaving out little to nothing from the manga.

@@hollandscottthomas Yea it always drives me insane when I see people online talking about how the first anime is better then Brotherhood. I mean people have the right to like it more and I will respect that. But anytime I ask them why they think it's actually better. I have yet to get an actual valid reason. Legit the only reasons they always give me are this. That the first anime is more dark and mature and that it covers one minor arc at the start of the manga that brotherhood skips. Which neither of those are legit reasons for why it's better. For one I never found anything in the first anime to be more darker or mature then Brotherhood. And second the only reason Brotherhood skips those episodes is because they are unimportant to the overall plot. Brotherhood has the far superior plot, much better action, music, animation might not be far to judge seeing how one is much newer yet still far better in Brotherhood. And then it does a much better job with certain characters. Like Riza Hawkeye, Greed, Bradley just to name a few. Riza gets very little development in the first anime, Greed is nearly as complex of a character nothing but a guy in love with Dante. Bradley doesn't get a single badass moment like he does a ton of times in Brotherhood. I dislike the whole only way to kill a homunculus is to burn the bones of their past selves. As it makes every fight pointless and ruins the whole them being this near unbeatable monsters. Also Dante is a shit villain pretty sure every single villain in Brotherhood is more compelling and fleshed out then her other then Gluttony who's just a big dumb monster. Dante is just your same generic boring "I Want to be immortal" type of villain. Plus man that ending is one of the weakest of all time. Literally zero setup at all for there being this alternate world that is the same as are real world. Such a lame ending that it needed a film just to explain it and wrap it up.

Yeah, FMA Brotherhood is not a sequel, but a "re-boot" of sorts that is much more faithful to the manga. I'm guessing Mason watched the original. He should definitely scrap that and go on with Brotherhood. Other recommendations: Samurai Champloo One Punch Man Gurren Lagann Hunter x Hunter Afro Samurai All of those are easy to get into, and are pretty interesting. I would recommend Tri-gun, Cowboy Bebop, Attack on Titan, Kill la Kill, and Evangelion once you've gotten your anime groove goin'. The first season of Sword Art Online presents a great idea, but gets real dumb after that (like the Walking Dead!) You want to get real weird with it? Give FLCL or Jojo's Bizarre Adventure a try.

This video started playing from auto-play during your guys' extended break in 2021. I first thought it was ironic when Mason said "we're back baby," assuming you were on break before this video too. Then hearing that he said that with little legitimacy at the time has me thinking Mason has finally obtained the power to see through time after your guys' time travel adventure (in 2021).

My advice for anime would be to try starting with shorter self contained series like samurai champloo, cowboy bebop, death note or some of the netflix stuff instead of sprawling epics like dragonball or gundam. Above all else you absolutely must watch Mob Psycho 100 and One Punch Man.

You've gotta watch Perfect Blue, it's basically where Black Swan came from. Ghost in the shell, the anime, had scenes that inspired scenes in Blade Runner and Paprika was one of the best movies I've ever seen and it was the direct inspiration for Inception.

Anime fans can be great but usually the worst people to deal with. I've worked many, many conventions all over Australia and New Zealand and when the con is Anime based, you know you are in for a hellish time as nearly every kid in the place is borderline autistic and in need of a slap in the face. At least when it's just a general pop culture con, most of the attendees are somewhat "normal" and you can have a decent conversation with them. The most you'll get from an anime fan is either "can you get Akatatai Non Wakasi Con Takahara Kai season 2 on bluray?" or "why is Akatatai Non Wakasi Con Takahara Kai season 2 on bluray so expensive?" AAArrrrgh!!! Anyway, I'll see you all at Madfest in Sydney next month!!

Personally Mason Full Metal Alchemist (not brotherhood cause I haven't been able to bring myself to watch it) is my favorite complete story ever told not just anime. But the first two episode are like a two parter have to watch them both. Honestly though I used to catch epsidoes here or there that would play after others and it turned me off wasn't until I gave it a real go that I fell in love. So just give it one more go it's good and goes real dark at times but still has fun.

If they don't understand what Brotherhood is, imagine trying to get them to understand what Dragon Ball Super is. It's a sequel series that replaces the non-canon sequel series "Dragon Ball GT", which are both sequel series to "Dragon Ball Z" which is a sequel series to Dragon Ball except Dragon Ball Z is also kind of not a sequel series because in the manga it was just part of the original series.

Funnyt thing is Maso that you should actually start with Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. As it's not an actual sequel series which furthers the point of you saying it's hard to know where to start with anime. But Fullmetal is based off of a manga by the same name. It's just when the original anime came out the manga only had like 10 or so chapters out at the time. So the anime only had a few episodes worth of source material to go off of. Which means after about 10 or so episodes the anime creators had to come up with their own story which was completely different from the manga in every way. A handful of years later after the manga was completed they decided to make FMA Brotherhood a anime that follows the plot of the manga from start to finish. And it a much better series due to that reason. As the plot of the manga is much better then the first anime as well as character development and animation.

I will always recommend Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. It's not a sequel its just a reboot, but changed a few plot points. I'd say give it 3-4 episodes.

Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 has a better atmosphere and soundtrack, but Brotherhood is closer to the original manga after a certain point. The original series caught up to the manga before the manga could finish, so the anime went in a different direction. If you decide to watch Brotherhood, skip the first episode because it subtly-not-subtly foreshadows a ton of stuff later on in the series. I like both, but if you didn't like the first episode of the 2003 series, then neither FMA nor FMAB may be for you because those first two episodes really set the stage for the whole franchise.

FMA and Brotherhood are just 2 different versions of the show. FMA is shorter and more concise, but (I feel) that brotherhood has the superior finale and a stronger overall story (it’s just a bit drawn out). I say this as someone who was shown both series by my girlfriend who is a much bigger fan than I am.

The pet cemetery is just a normal pet cemetery, they originally go to bury the cat there, then the local guy leads him to an ancient Indian burial ground. they bury the cat, then later the boy there. Pet Cemetery just sounds better I guess. Anyway, that's more or less what happens.

Mason you remind me of a child who quickly gets bored with new things and then abandons it. Because if that, I’m not sure what anime to recommend. But if I had to, _Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood_ is a classic. It’s much more comprehensive and thorough in its storytelling then its predecessor _Fullmetal Alchemist_ .

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood isn't a sequal it is a remake that was done 100% by the manga as the original show Full Metal Alchemist was made while the manga was 50 % trough and then the anime cough up to the manga and the writer just didn't release new stuff so they did their own spin on the story which was really strange and weird and made no sense (and that is already in a world that doesn't make sense but the plot just took a downgrade) so watch FMA.
