I have a 1990 223 mako with a 2012 300 evinrude love it updating and redoing the boat now

I used to work for Mako back in 1997-98 in Miami, actually opa locka FL . The boats do look different , we used to make 33 ft 27 and lower , cabin boat and center console, so the new Mako do seem different. I did the rigging, mount the motors

I’m not saying nothing about the little kickstand but if you transom in your engine mouth, can’t hold the engine up what are you gonna do in waves that was always my thought

Great podcast enjoys listening. I run a 2021 bluewave 2200 purebay with a Suzuki 200 great boat and hull. Biggest complaint the wiring from the factory is horrible. Have had so many gremlins took over a year but we finally have it worked out and fixed correctly. Regularly run 10-30 miles offshore on nice day.

Yep, find an older boat that fits what you wanna do and don’t work so hard. Keep your boat clean. Remember, everything else is impress your neighbor the fish don’t care.

Hi, I thought I would just add a comment about the Evinrude Sweet 16. It was a totally Evinrude build boat. The hull, motor and trailer were a package from Evinrude. It was indeed a 2 Stroke OMC inboard motor. I had one that I purchased from a older friend of mine in 1984. He purchased it in 1965 at the Houston Boat show. He drove it once and put it in his garage. I purchased it and ran it for 5 years with flawless operation. It was a cool boat.

When considering how to spend boat dollars, safety is a good measure. A new thin, chopper-gun hull with subpar factory wiring and rigging is more dangerous than an 85 Mako w new proper wiring and rigging.

I’d agree people who use there boats several times of week don’t seem to have issue if the don’t flush it. Customers of mine like that always have pretty clean t-stats and block zincs. The boats that only get used here and there have tons of build up.

I find people really have no concept of what it costs for decent boat. Some people will get caught up in the options of the value brands. Even though the options are the cheapest thing the manufacturer could find.
