Welcome back to another episode of Worst Rappers in the Game?, and in this one I'm gonna be giving my thoughts on one of the very few rappers under Playboi Carti's Opium label: Destroy Lonely.
To get an opinion on his music, I listened to Broken Hearts (Squared), NO STYLIST+ (ULTRA) and If Looks Could Kill. So after all this, do I think Destroy Lonely is one of the worst rappers in the game or not? Well, this is CDTVProductions and watch the video to find out!

I like the more fun tracks he did with Ski Mask but those also come off as silly and immature. "She gon' rub my Dragon Balls let her make one wish" is funny, but not prime storytelling by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm curious to see a new WRITG on Ken Carson, like you asked in the middle of the video. I was never huge into Lone, but I love a lot of Ken's music (mostly before his most recent project). He's definitely a lot more energetic, melodic and really corny, but I find it funny when he does it. Not an amazing rapper, but might be more interesting for you.

No Stylist made me a Lone fan and on first listen I came away with like 2-3 tracks I enjoyed. Opium artists will never score highly in these type of “First Listen” Rankings because I promise you most of their fans didnt like their music on first listen. It just clicks with you at some point and you begin to like more and more songs off the album as you keep listening. I used the hate his off beat flow and would actively avoid songs like Miley Cyrus (which was the first song I heard from him) and Dover Street Market but now they’re some of his best to me

he fr, i can definetly say i didnt like carti, lone or ken when i first listened to them but now they are by far my favourite rappers. the whole aesthetic at style they go for is so different to everyone else and i feel like it takes multiple listens to start to understand

been a fan of lonely since 2018.. the fact that i can’t even disagree with a lot of the takes when it comes to his newer music is sad. He’s great when it comes to catchy, lively beats. He has a great voice + some of his lyrics and a lot of his flows are creative and def grow on you (his song franklin is a good example). Especially when he was making music for fun, his singles/soundcloud hosts and shorter length eps were great and refreshing for the underground scene at the time. Even when it came to darker beats his voice and flow would slide on songs like Mochiatto or Kross Kountry. Since then his lyrics got a lot less creative, his projects have been way too long with a lot of the beats/flows sounding too similar. This w/ the fact that he’s sticking to darker more ambient beats on these projects has made them hard to listen to even as a fan… w/ only a few songs off these tapes being replayable.

The lack of vowels in his song names threw me off too...at least with Scarlxrd, for example, he's consistent with replacing any "o" with an "x"...it's an interesting creative choice...

A WRITG on Ken Carson could be interesting, I feel like you would enjoy his earlier work way more then Lonely, I wasn't the biggest fan of is album X, with the darker esthetic but i felt like the song that he added on xtended were pretty good and that they were showing him having a better grasp on the sound

On your last stream I said that Ken is worse than Lone. Even though I agree, I can see you finding him funny bad and more enjoyable. I just personally find the rage beats he selects way more generic and repetitive than the beats lone tends to picks. X especially has 2 beats on back to back songs with the same drum sounds in similar patterns, peak lazyness. He has a song called Fuk 12 that make you go "😂😂😂" probably so that's cool Edit: i'd give lone a 5, his beats are great 80% of the time and lone is an excuse to listen to those beats

I just found Lonely with ILCK and honestly I'm rly sad all the yt i watch hate him. Other then then wagan I thought every song you mentioned is fire. I get lost in these beats bro, and personally I think the way he flows is dope. Together along with the simple bars and way he says the words, it comes together for such a unique vibey album.

im gonna be honest with you, destroy lonely and his label as a whole is probably going to be below average to a new listener. his music is something that grows on you. a widely known example is carti's wlr where most people hated on it on release. don't worry, don't make a random music reviewer alter your music taste, cause music taste is subjective.

@trianglescube ya man it's definitely a grower, you need that one time of it just playing in the background and you slowly just get wrapped up in it until you all of sudden realize how lost in every note of instrumental you are. It jus sucks cause it sounds like that type of sound in hiphop that ppl just find easy to hate on, kinda like the em flow, so ppl natural are adverse in shit cause the culture suggests them too.

I respect your opinion and what's crazy is some of the areas in which you dislike Lone are areas that I enjoy. I completely understand how his off-beat overlapping punching-in flows can be a big turning point for some but for someone like me it's different and that's what makes him enjoyable.

Destroy lonely took me a while to really get into. I would’ve agreed that a lot that he said just a few months ago, so if this was good first time listening, i get it. Still gonna leak them papers tho

I did not like Lonely’s music at all at first. I tried playing the NoStylist album, cuz I like Carti and wanted to get into the other Opium acts. Couldn’t find a song for a long time I liked. Then in 2022 sometime I heard ‘No Stylist’ and liked it. Slowly but surely I added another song here and there. But in 2023, it finally clicked. I found I rally like X by Ken and ILCK by Lonely. Even though I would rate them low, i still play songs from them often. I think they’re not high quality, but i like low quality stuff sometimes. Something about their voices, the autotune, and the beats, all make for a good ignorant hum session. I also love to see the gothic aesthietic of punk and metal brought into hip hop for a new generation. Its fun to see a new cycle of outrage around upside-down crosses and demonic imagery.

There’s literally thousands of artists who make deep lyrical miracle music. Go listen to that. Music doesn’t have to be deep to be good. At the end of the day it’s all subjective.

@@_Innerstellar I’m not asking for crazy lyrics. Rap like this CAN be deeper than just rage music. There’s always room for interesting music in every genre it’s just the extent to which and artists thinks on their music that makes it more or less interesting. For example, X-Wing by Denzel curry is a song he made that he himself calls mumble rap… just listen to the hook. It’s not a Wesley’s theory or I or Father Time, it’s a really good song backed by an incredible beat and an obviously high effort performance.

yh while i like 2 or 3 tracks the album as a whole was just too painfully boring. it really was the same mundane beat accompanied by lonely giving low energy mumbling some random shit. while i get thats a part of the whole opium aesthetic of goth batman moody type shit god damn he gave it no versatility. the only people saying its good are opium meat riders☠️

DL doesn’t make terrible music but it’s just mostly boring for me besides a few songs. I agree with CDTV in the fact it’s just bad and not a fun bad. I’d rather watch a obnoxiously bad movie and enjoy the craziness than watch a boring one that is just bland and not all that interesting.

it’s not a worst rappers list, it’s a ranking of the rappers i’ve covered in this series asking IF they’re the worst rappers in the game or not. Future, Travis, Uzi and Thug are at the top of the list because I really like all of them lmao.

I’m not crazy on destory lonely but I did actually really like if looks could kill . Thought it was a cool style to vibe to. But yeah he’s probably my least favorite out of the Opium camp so far
