Both are decent in their own right. But even though both are medium tanks, they focus a little more on different things. The Sherman, overall has the better armor, not ignoring the side scraping capabilities of the T-34, but in many situations, especially in hull down, the Sherman can bounce more shots. This is very prevalent in the 7v7 rounds, where the T-34s had to use prammo in some situations, this became enough of a problem that it made the Sherman win every round. The edge of the T-34 on the other hand, is it's DPM. As shown in the face-off, the T-34 wins every time. And even though it's armor can at times be inferior to the Sherman, because of its natural angled armor, it can ricochet shots if it's side scraping, although hindered by its weak turret.

Despite t-34 having advantages on dpm,mobility,HP and more angled armor,i'm still prefer the sherman because of gun depression,penetration and turret armor that makes good for hulldown thats make me confortable to use and i'm a type of hulldown player in wotb,but it depends on player to used that. By the way can you please make the tier 6 version?(T-34-85 vs M4A3E8)

It's more about players, not tanks. DPM is always harder to play, then armour, even through it's more efficient in the end
