5:05 "Kevlar armour can weigh five times lighter than steel armour of the same weight." Who needs Mandalorian armour when you have armour that weighs only a fifth of its own weight? Is that exponential? If you put on extra layers does it get increasingly less its own weight? That would be brilliant, the heavier the armour, the lighter it is. _I've been enough of a nerf herder for now…_ Don't forget to tip your waitress.

@Chara In truth, a blaster bolt would be much, much worse. The plasma bolts that blasters shoot contain a huge amount of thermal energy. Watch what they do to surroundings in the original films: stone explodes, steel melts, sparks and smoke everywhere. When that bolt hits a person, it won't go through like a bullet; it'll flash boil the fluids of the body, causing rapid expansion. It'll tear you apart from the inside out as it cooks you. Ever seen a potato explode when put in a microwave for too long?

@@finthehuman9791he assumed that, since the anemy of the USA army, is mostly always armed with an AK 47/74 or other cheap AK variants, also the ak 47 ( which mostly uses a 7.62), packs a much larger energy then any other smaller round, such as the ones NATO or most ak 74's use... So it would put more energy into the soldier, also the bullet traveles slower then other smaller rifle round, so that is the reason why it did not penetrate the soldier... and just btw. Ak's where the best for their time, and still can kick most other rifle's ass in many categories

The thing about the Mandelorian armor however is large, slightly curved plates. The metal may be heavy and won't "absorb" an impact but it will spread it out significantly and the padding, very likely being a highly advanced shock absorbing material, we have several options of our own to choose from.

Disney destroyed so much interesting and deep lore. They went full disney and turned the sith from scary relatable true evil that scare us because we can see their evil inside our own souls, into mustache twirling cackling villains that noone identifies with. They turned a culture of violence glorifying warriors into a species struggling with a % of psychopaths, once again turning a representation of human struggle between our morals and animal nature, into a 2D shallow nothingness that no longer forces us to consider reality and the human condition. I honestly hope someone creates a spiritual and rational successor to the true StarWars. Disney does not understand how true existentialism emboss a lighthearted action movie into an extended universe. I mean, who has ever explored the dog race Goofy heralds from? Who has written 3rd party books about any concept as presented by Disney? That is the true failure of Disney. The turned a franchise that invited creativity into a locked producer-consumer relationship. They have built a wealthy business simplifying far better works of fiction. Sad thing is, StarWars was so great because it was a framework for the consumers imagination. The sith red lightsaber used to be a result from Sith not caring about the path, only the result. Many of the fallen Jedi fell because they willingly sacrificed their soul for the betterment of the galaxy, ends justifying all means. Now it is just torturing the poor semi-sentient crystals until they bleed red. Sigh. Disney storytellers never grew beyond a 10 year olds understanding of reality. StarWars made me think about things when I was a kid. Now it is only surface deep.

A basic proper Buy’ce had a rangefinder that connected with the HUD that can switch between modes with voice commands or blinks of the eye, and sensors and micro cameras allow the wearer to see all around them. A secure com system and long range com system, as well as environmental controls that filter out toxins and have a two hour air supply where also included. Hey Allen I’m a currently active marine in the USMC abroad in Okinawa and a long time fan of yours as well as American and- *checks smudged writing on hand* braitan ken? Whatever anyway the mandolorian armor I’ve seen and from what I’ve gathered is very good for protecting the wearer in almost any kind of enviroment however would likely be expensive enough that would only be used by special forces however that being said the mandolorian style is completely plausible to be used as protective gear specifically the helmet piece for all the reasons you just stated the only draw back would be a lack of natural hearing range due to the helmet fully covering the ears. While modern helmets do cover the ears the bottom edge on each side is open and slightly flared both to deflect over head shrapnel and debris falling on the warrior in question and to allow in more sound waves to reach the users ear however it would be nothing to put a speaker and micro phone system on each side of the ear using modern heating aid tech and fairly cheap personal ear buds that are already available on the civilian market the only draw back with today’s current technology in warfighting would be that the warrior would have reduced marksman ship especially at longer ranges because good marksman ship almost always requires what is known as a “cheek weld” where the marksman takes the flesh of their cheek and rest on top of and around the butstock of their weapon in order to gain proper “sight picture” and eliminate “scope shadow” (I’m putting those terms in parenthesis so that if you wish you can look it up later and gain a better understanding of what good marksmanship requires. But to the actual armor pieces other then the helmet what you have to understand is that not only would todays warfighter carry their weapon ammo and protective gear into the battlefield but also their secondary non critical equipment such as their bed roll food water a small shovel cleaning kit for their weapon/s tactical maps “CBRN” aka “C-BURN” gear radio an extra uniform and/or protective weather uniform not to mention their “IFAC” all of wich while not being terribly heavy individually can stack up in white quite quickly therefore while the style would work in modern day actual beskar as you said is “highly dense” in comparison to dura steel wich is descrbed as being denser then regular steel Kevlar is 5 times lighter then steel but the average plate carrier weighs anywhere between 38-49 pounds depending on how much of the actual plate carrier kit is being used as there’s secondary additions that are issued with it but it is the warriors choice how much of it they use most opt to go bare bones minimum for weight. Beskar as a simple chest piece would be entirely too heavy at least double the weight of a modern plate carrier especially when adding in the padding required to negate internal hemorrhaging and bruising brought on by concussive force. Beskar would not be practical in my conclusion unless it was taken in a halo spartan like route in whose the armor is no longer armor but an uparmored man portable exo-skeleton wich is currently beyond the realm of human technology at the moment and I haven’t heard of any new research and testing into the subject though I can be surprised. Phew that was a really long comment. Anyway if you have any questions you want to ask me look me up on face book my name is real and is the same as it is here and my profile picture is of me in my Alpha uniform. One funny thing I've seen is how fictional and non fictional armor influences each other. One guy created a RL full body suit based off of halo and star wars armor. Halo Amor was influenced by motocross/mountain bike armor. There's even the case of halo armor influencing motorcycle helmets. Real life influences fiction and then fiction influences real life.

Ik this is completely unrelated to the video but the short clip of the soldier loading rounds into the magazine made me cringe. They should've turned the mag around and pushed the back of the round into the mag as they put the round in, that way they could put 2 rounds in the mag in the time it takes this guy to put in just one. That's basic training stuff so I doubt that particular soldier was actually a soldier and likely just an actor doing some kind of promotion. Just a little trick of the trade, don't hate on me. This was a great video I've always wondered how well mando armour would work in our own universe and this was pretty informative, I love your videos keep it up! 👍

A lot of the time we'd only wear our body armor out to our infil point and then drop it in whatever vehicle we came in so we'd be able to move faster. That was in a jungle environment though but, I believe from the people I've talked to that the next step in armor will be a powered exo suit. I've found a few designs on the web, the face visors will be made from a clear man-made sapphire glass. Some rumors on the full body armor is that the skin has something akin to cuttlefish chromatophores where the soldier will be able to change their camo to exactly match the place they're hiding. Sounds like a bunch of fun!

Why don't we use full face armour? Two words: Cheek Weld. To properly gain a sight picture with any type of sight on a rifle (iron or optical), you need to have proper placement of the cheek on the rifle buttstock. Full face armour would prevent that.
@GrimRX
@GrimRX 5 жыл бұрын
@Logan Waltz Then it wouldn't be "Full Face Armour" as that "pliable cheek like surface" would not be ballistic protection. It would also have to be 3-4 inches long and high to be able to do what it set out to do. You'd also need to put the cutout on both sides of the helmet to accommodate left and right hand shooters. At that point, you have a "Full face armour" helmet that barely protects anything more than a normal current day helmet.

no reason that you can't design a rifle and sight you can use with a full face helmet on 90% of stocks are just stocks so you could remove material to suit ,, unless they have something like a spring assembly or it's a bullpup,, hell even then just raising the sight should do it ..

While I think it's now Legends canon you see this in the Republic Commando series by Karen Traviss when a character talks about 'only the best for our ladies' and says that the bes'kar is 2% ciridium. In this armor the character can take slug and blaster hits with near impunity.

short answer: yes Long answer: it depends on how expensive mandalorian armor would be. modern armor still could be significantly improved but the cost vs the decreasing returns means that modern militaries usually just go with something that suffices in stopping extremely lethal gun shots thus you have plates protecting vital organs and the head while every other injury is non life threatening and usually not immediately lethal. it may not even neutralize you as a threat and in many cases is treatable with full or mostly full recovery often being possible

By interweaving small titanium plates surrounded by bullet resistant cloth and adding a shock absorber patting in the back you will have a very very effective body armor. Titanium is extremely strong and very light so making plates and weaving them together would not only stop a round but displace the energy of the round. Adding the bullet resistant cloth around it will not only help it last long from the elements but also fortify it and make it even more resistant. The shock padding would help the plates hold together and also keep the body from receiving whatever shock/energy is still concentrated from the already spread impact trauma.

Soldier here; if it's not too heavy, hell yeah I'd wear it. However, one thing that most people don't realize is that while helmets are really good to wear, and they don't seem all that heavy (usually just a few lbs), when you're wearing them all day, that weight wears on you. This weight issue is one of the biggest reasons why we don't have full helmets with face protection. Also, when you add armor to the face, it makes the front very heavy. Add to that night vision goggles or a gas mask and your neck will fatigue quickly from having to keep your head from nodding forward. One solution could be to make an attachment point behind the neck that's both flexible and holds the weight of the helmet, transferring it to your back, which would hardly notice 5-10lbs or so if distributed properly.

Master Chief's Mark V (or experimentally-shielded Mk IV) is better than any Stark Armor. The loss of the ability to constantly fly and shoot repulsors is offset by armor that would have withstood Thanos at Every Turn due to the Shields. Mark VI Armor is nearly Indestructible, and All Mjolnir Armor Suits are capable of accelerating the already Exceptional Augmented Wearer, who could beat the Hulk with their Insane Speed (they can push 90 mph for a short time), Exceptional Strength, Extreme Agility, and Incredible Senses. Add Chief's Luck and Cortana's Skills as an AI, and even Thanos would lose.

@@SonsOfLorgar Stark's Armor is Softer than Master Chief's, as it is a Gold-Titanium Alloy, which is softer than Chief's Titanium-Tungsten-etc Armor that Halsey worked on for Years. The Armor scar on his chestplate is from either a Covenant Carbine or Beam Rifle at Point Blank Range. A Real-life Armor Expert stated that the Mjolnir Mark IV is essentially invincible to modern weapons, and adding in the Extremely high Melting Points of the Mjolnir Armor Composition, it takes considerable plamsa fire to melt the surface of the Armor, much less the Whole Suit. The punches that Thanos threw were less powerful than those Chief survived in the Mk IV from Brutes and Hunters. The Mjolnir Suit incorporates a Significant amount of nanotechnology, including the nanocrystal AI and Comm interfaces. The Mjolnir suit is also primarily made of Hard Plates and a Nanotech Bodysuit, all of which can take a near-miss tank round. Spartans can also move (and see) at Extreme speeds compared to Norms (what they call Normal People), and can go hand-to-hand with Elites (Spartans and Elites are comparable to Wookies in speed and Strenth), and All of my Information comes from Official Lore and Scientific Checks of Lore. Brutes and Hunters would give the Hulk problems, Especially with their Regeneration, Durability, and the Hunters' Exceptionally Intelligent Hive Minds. Hunters are known to be as intelligent as an Organic can possibly be, with some (such as Colony) being almost on the Level of a Sentient AI. Stark's MCU armor can be bent, warped, and destroyed far easier than the Master Chief's Mk IV. Stark has two special armors in the Comics; one made from Vibranium and the other from Asgardian Uru Metal. Aside from these armors, Iron Man will be vulnerable the Post-War Mjolnir Sensor Systems.

A light layer of Sorbothane behind the plates would do wonders for absorbing the kinetic energy, and even some of the momentum, of a round. The stuff is amazing, and there are videos of people trying to smash eggs between two cups of it using a hammer, and failing. If an egg can be upgraded to survive impacts using this stuff, I think a human in a hardsuit lined with it would be pretty well off.
