I'd like to see a bathroom fan which allows cable entry from all four corners, has somewhere to stick the CPC (let's face it, Class II or not, most of the time it'll be a 3-core 6243Y cable poking out of the wall), and is made to sit on a a 6A lighting circuit without the manufacturers' instructions asking for a 3A fuse. A fan this tight is okay in a build like that with a nice new flat wall, maybe more problematic where you've some skanky bathroom with a botched 'ole!
@Cablesmith2 жыл бұрын
Yep it really bugs me that there’s never an earth terminal, feel like you’ve not finished something. and it may possibly have been a Manufacturing mess up of the actual duct because it definitely shouldn’t have been that tight, even with the duct out of the wall to check it wasn’t skewed. Thanks for watching big dawg

@@Cablesmith Yep, I know it's not fans, but that's one thing i like about Aico smoke alarms... a cpc terminal. Thank you! BS7671 says there's got to be a CPC so why do so many fittings and fixtures omit one? Manufacturers, any input? By the way, also unrelated, but if you're a fan of quinetic receivers, the space inside a QR303 receiver allows a 221 series 2 wire wago (the small white ones) to fit inside with 2x 1mm or 1.5mm T&Es in the cable entries, for a workmanlike finish :)
@Cablesmith2 жыл бұрын
@@TheChipmunk2008 have a look at my recent ish video of soffit lights. I use a 221 inside the Quinetic. 😁

Agreed. I’d also like to see a fan where there is actually sufficient cable space to get a 3core in without having to have absolute precision otherwise the cover doesn’t go on. This one is a different type but you know the ones I mean. Agree regarding the earth terminal it may not require an earth of CPC but which cable are you running that doesn’t have one? An external socket doesn’t require one for the back box but they have one why can’t fans have one?

As Sean says he likes 'em tight, I'm surprised Dave didn't have something to say about that, ooh matron as Kenneth Williams would say. Regards, Ray..

Nice tidy job Sean thought that was Ryan's underpants you where pulling out the hole for a minute. Just shows your a top class spark, I'm impressed with the fuse on the isolator many sparks including myself would just slap a 3 pole isolator on. You have probably started a new trend now 😁
@Cablesmith2 жыл бұрын
Haha Ryan doesn’t wear underpants 😂 it’s definitely an nice little way of adding a 3A fuse isn’t it. Thanks Adie 👌🏼

I was concerned about the fit into the pipe but I assumed if it was too tight I could sand some off the plastic strip. In the end it was a nice sliding fit into the tube. I used the Manrose 100mm Round Pipe 0.35m which arrived in gray.
@Cablesmith11 ай бұрын
I must have had a silly brand pipe on this one then because it was really tight. As for the grey, a lot seems to be grey now for some reason. Not sure why. Maybe recycled or something
@acelectricalsecurity2 жыл бұрын
That fan is identical to vent axia, which makes sense, as I was told manrose makes a lot of fans for vent axia. I don't know why manufacturers never supply an earth terminal, they know every accessory requires an earth, whether it's needed or not.
@Cablesmith2 жыл бұрын
Most likely yes, I fit a lot of fans and usually no matter the brand there’s a manrose that’s identical. Agree fully on the earth terminal 👌🏼
