Iain Dale speaks to callers to discuss whether the UK should change its defence policy amid a 'growing threat' from Russia and how they feel about the prospect of war.
It comes as the Nato Deputy Secretary General, Mircea Geoană, suggested the UK should prepare for 'something close to war.'
The Deputy General also said members have "neglected defence" in recent years, leaving countries, including the UK, unprepared.

On your own soil or that of another country? It’s a nightmare scenario but I’d rather go abroad to fight rather than see Cardiff , Newcastle or Birmingham look like Mariupol or Bakhmut.

I don't see why young people would want to fight for their country when it often makes life harder for them. Many struggle to own a home and are trapped in poverty. It's difficult to understand why the working class would support political elites who seem indifferent to their struggles and wouldn't lift a finger to defend their interests they wouldn't be the people that's dieing in a ditch in the front lines.

I've not the finance to move now we have left the EU, it has created barriers. I'm British, but I don't like the way it has changed in recent years. The superiority complex, I find, is overwhelming. I feel trapped in my own nation. I do not hate my country, its simply not comfortable to live in. I'm tired of the dehumanising immigrants and refugees that the government keeps churning out and sadly, so many buy into as the root of all national issues.

What’s the point of this show that post questions to listeners but the moment the listeners calls and give an answer to the question that the interviewer or the host asked that the host doesn’t like the host and then decides to end the conversation? If you’re going to have a radio talk show, then you must have some inclination that maybe just maybe people are going to call with a different perspective in difference of opinion, but the fact that the man is going to be visibly upset that the color isn’t on his side. It’s just asinine and it’s indicative of British society.

I believe in gradually strengthening our conventional forces. That cannot be done overnight. We have so few soldiers, that promoting every one of them would not yield enough NCOs to lead a year's national service intake. Besides, ours are a volunteer forces, and far better for being so. I am sceptical that a government that contains "Conservative friends of [latest rogue state here]" supports our interests regarding defence.

Did they screen these callers before they put them on the air, the first guy Matt started well but ran out of steam in the end he was just repeating BBC narratives, the second guy, “Ali G” was the biggest idiot, then they top it with the classic Bond villain talking a about nuclear weapons, so think if UK was invaded you would better off if these people did fight for the other side
