Following the Clan Crusader motorsport documentaries, “The Clan’s Crusade” and “Blades of Glory”, Car Films is back with a Clan…but this one has a twist.
This Clan Crusader started life in 1973, and after a mysterious mishap, was locked away.
Fifty years later, electronics engineer Lance Davidson and his Clan are on a Crusade to push the limits of what is possible with electric classic cars.
Can the technology readily available in an electrified world be adapted to suit a 1970s sports car, with levels of drivability, technology and economics to rival the very best modern EVs?

Another outstanding film, Paul. This is such an intriguing conversion too and I am impressed to hear that its weight gain in the process was minimal, despite all the tech crammed into it. We may see a day in the not-too-distant future where such retrofits are commonplace, so this may function as a bit of a preview. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Love the fact he resto-modded it from a knackered example and not break up a good clan or a lightly restorable clan. Great job.

Ambitious project and very nicely done. I love that you used the Clan Crusader for the platform. It looks like it drives well. The Hillman/Sunbeam Imp engine is a super sweet engine and one of my all time favorites, but I respect what you’ve done here. I would definitely drive this. Beautiful work.

Brilliant project. Well done Lance Davidson, and son. You're obviously a very talented engineer, and a Clan fan. 250miles (400km) from a 52Kwh battery is really efficent - if correct, it looks like light weight is great for economy in EV's too.

Woww beautiful looking car to start with, but to turn it into electric 🤯 He’s a very Clever Guy , like you said Paul , must of been weird to drive , No noise coming from it , I’m not into electric cars , but to put all that technology in that Clan and still look like one , very Clever 👍 Great video as well

Mega impressive. A fantastic build. I'm surprised it is allowed to keep its original identity (M reg Crusader, etc) and have the requisite number of 'points' having been re-shelled and re-'engined', etc.

Yes, very Triggers Broom! To me it's a beautiful Irish Clan! Nice to see a Leaf motor repurposed - have had a 24kwh Leaf for the past 6 years and have been amazed by it.

One has to admire the effort and the quality of the build. But the wheel selection, not so much. Far too large for the body mass of the car - they make it look silly and like it's running on tiptoes.
