Nah. White folks in the south are still white and they're in the sun all the time. Arabs are in the sun and they're not black. Australians, asians, white people that live in africa etc. So no, Superman doesn't necessarily have to be darker in skin tone because he gets power from the sun. The reason he is white though is for the same reason why most superheroes are white; not only were they created by white people (therefore, they would make a powerful version of their own skin color), but also when superheroes were created, black people were even less equal than they are now in the eyes of the whites, so the idea of a black man being powerful was not only unheard of, it was threatening to the white people's way of life

And if y'all want to get super semantic about it, Superman grew up as Clark Kent and took the name Superman when he became a hero. So his "identity" is Clark Kent. He grew up on Earth. Saying Superman is always Superman is like saying Lady Gaga is always Lady Gaga.

Little food for thought...They always try to bring Batman back down to earth by reminding him that he's an orphan. And fail to realize Superman lost his parents at an even earlier age.
