To the guy saying he barely outplayed Jimmy Butler. In the series vs The Heat Jalen Brunson averaged 31.0 ppg to Jimmy Butler 24.6 Jalen Brunson averaged 50.4 field goal to Jimmy Butler’s 43.2 Jalen Brunson averaged 34.7% from 3 to Jimmy Butler’s 11.1. Jalen Brunson was guarded the same way as Jimmy Butler. Gabe Vincent was picking Jalen Brunson up full court and, he still performed. Both players were great in this series but Jalen Brunson to me was better. Also Jimmy Butler’s supporting cast was way better than Jalen Brunson’s. Jalen Brunson’s performance in game 6 proved he has arrived.

Brunson was THE guy putting up superstar numbers and carrying his team all year and into a 2 round playoff run and you got people arguing about ingram being better than him. or guys like trae young whose infamously been horribly inefficient. brunson putting up 40 bombs on one leg in the playoffs- he has easily established himself as top 20. why is donovan mitchell ahead of him? because he was better in the past? regular season numbers aren't even that far off and brunson has only stomped him in back to back playoffs

1. Thats during the regular season & Trae Young has had great regular seasons as well 2. If u look at the playoffs level of competition & offensive load matters as well. In the playoffs Brunson was primarily being defended by Gabe Vincent, Caleb Martin, Caris LeVert, & Cedi Osman so to say Trae Young isn't in his tier is nasty work.

It is not always about the stats. Jalen Brunson is more impactful than Trae Young. Even though Trae Young averaged more points he was not as efficient as Jalen Brunson. Jalen Brunson averaged 49.1 % on his field goals compared to Trae Young’s 42.9. Jalen Brunson averaged 41.6% from 3 compared to Trae Young’s 33.5% from 3. I like Trae Young as a player and I believe he is a good player but he was not more efficient or impactful than Brunson this year. Both are great players I hope Brunson keeps going. He is a special talent and I am happy that he is getting his opportunity to shine. The Knicks got a good one.

But we can’t ignore his terrible efficiency or his terrible defense. He’s usually a good shooter and shot 33% from 3. Trae has some serious flaws. Fox clears Trae, I don’t even think that’s debatable. The clutch award and defense does that for me. Brunson a little closer but 28ppg on 48% shooting this playoffs. Last year had another amazing playoff run. I’m taking Brunson.
