In this review we're going to take a closer look at one of Rolex most iconic watches of all time. This is the Datejust 36 reference 16013, otherwise known as the "American Psycho" as it was featured in said film.

New to your channel. I just inherited my first Rolex 16013 watch that's over 37 years old now from my father after he passed... No clue what it's worth. My father did wear this watch everywhere proudly. My stepmother made sure he saved the original receipt from 1986 where he purchased it.

Rolex started using 904L for the cases of Datejusts by 1988, when they’ve adopted the 3135 movement and the reference 162XX. Bracelets started being 904L by 2003 or so. This model, then, being pre-1988 used 316L for its steel parts.

This watch was never actually in the movie, the watch Christian Bale and others actually wear is a Seiko SNXJ90. In the book he wears a Rolex but they weren't allowed to in the movie.

i love your videos. my biggest criticism is that you cut a bit too often when you're focused on the watch on the table top or in your hands. i find the seconds jumping distracting as it makes each cut a bit more obvious. i think you might be able to get away with letting a video clip play and just cut in the extra audio if you need to. for example, at the beginning of talking about each point you're making, have a script and read through the entire thing once, even if you stumble on the lines. then if you cut in your audio where the mistakes are, it won't sound out of place, but the clip will be more congruent. another possibility which you've done some here in this video is to cut to a different angle, that way we won't see the time jumping forward as obviously. If you need to fill in some time where you needed to cut frequently, some nice steady macro shots at different angles would be great, instead of just cutting to the watch in the same position but slightly later. the content here is excellent, but i think that a few improvements would make a big difference. there is a fairly large knife/watch reviewer running a little contest for small channels that you might want to enter in. his name is Nick Shabazz. I think it might be some really good exposure for your excellent channel. you deserve a lot more views. watch?v=4kLNrHZjNpM there is a sign up listed in that video description. best of luck.

Hi there! Thank you very much for your constructive criticism, it is always appreciated and very important for the improvement of my content. I had always been aware of the "jump-cuts" but never felt like it bothered me so I assumed it wouldn't bother others. I've had a few complaints on the fact now so I'm definitely going to try to work on that for the upcoming videos, thanks a lot! Yes I'm quite a fan of Nick Shabazz and have been watching loads of his watch reviews, he's great! I've entered :) Thanks again and have a wonderful day, Tobias

Nice review but it's incorrect. Rolex did not use 904 grade steel back then. That is 316L steel. Still a nice quality steel but the 904 has a higher percentage of nickel in it. There's a slight difference in the sheen if you compare modern-day rolexes to the 16013. I happen to know because I own one of these myself.

Many people (evidences, testimonies on the web) think that was a Seiko snxj92 or snxj90....not Rolex.
