I was very fortunate to have one of my followers send me his Rolex Datejust Steel & Gold for a service. The Rolex had a couple of issues so let's see if I can address those in this restoration project. Hope the owner will enjoy his Rolex Datejust after my service

The 12 o clock crown logo is loose. You can see it move when you put the hands on @ 25:54.

Yes it was a tiny bit loose. Don't forget that the magnification is huge on the video

TRes Tres Bien... Love your work on this piece.. Love the DJ, (which I have one, a 116233). It did need a service and you did a great job as usual.. I like the newer dial as well, dresses up the piece and brightens it up...and love the 'open' 6 and 9..Retro, per no!! Excellent..

It appears in the video that the Rolex crown on the new dial is loose.

At 5:30, you're talking about Rolex having 27 jewels, and having more is better. I have a Vostok amphibia, and its automatic movement has 31 jewels... So Vostok has the better movement.😳

Your Vostok caliber has 31 jewels but 10 of them I think are in the reversing wheel. I would not sat necessary it is a better movement if it has more jewels but it is a sign of a good quality for sure

I believe the production of the film American Psycho intended to use this watch for the protagonist Patrick bateman but Rolex didn't want the brand to be associated with a psychopathic maniac so instead he wore a Seiko for the film. But in the book its this Rolex.

Well done. It does look nice with the gold dial. I notice you clean your cap stones separately. You said in your cleaning machine. Do you put them in the tiniest basket? Or do you do in an ultrasonic? I’m always scared they will come out of a basket. Ta.

I put them in a small basket in the cleaning machine that is made for it. I never had an issue.

It's always kind of a mixed bag with me when talking about Rolex. They come with a lot of prestige and everybody is in ore when talking about the brand. But, do they really deserve it? Put two watches next to each other and look. Take any JLC for example. If I want to get a Rolex I got to fork out Thousends. A JLC that I think is of much better quality then Rolex for much less damage in your purse. I mean Rolex, I cant afford one but it is not the most luxurious watch ther is, in fact I look at it as an entry level super watch. Like a sper car lol. Rolex is the Porsche with all the recognition in public. But then the lader gets very steep. Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet & Vacheron Constantin the holy trinity, all better then Rolex in fact there are words in betuen. I sepose I'm gona get my .... kicked now for pulling down Mamma Role but I'm just saying it how it is. There are others you will have to pay the price for. Exorbitant prices, in the millions. This can get real expensive very quick. Then you got the mods and the unique who it can go crazy lol

To be fair Rolex has a very good reputation and they earned it with the quality of their watches. The movement are maybe not as nicely decorated as a JLC caliber but they are so solid. They are made to last in extreme conditions. This what they are luxury sport watches with a caliber built as a tank. Very different from a JLC that are more dress watches.

@@FrenchWatchCollector Yes Rolex are ment to be sn every day watch for any circumstance. Ofcause there are Rolex that are ment to be locked away and only waren on spetial occasions. Rolex seme to have a wide variety of watches and that is what I ment with comparing them to Porsche. When you get into the realm of a Bentley, Maybach and Rolls Roy's, that is an other story. The holy trinity. Then you start to take of into space Mc Laren, Lambo, Ferrari, but it gets muche higher then that and so do watches. The Rolex like the Porsche is an all rounder with luxury prestige at the bottom end of the scale. A scale ment for the others. A Rolex you could afford, second hand just like a Porsche. But a Lambo even second hand you have to take on 2 morgiges. Somthing not evreone could or would do. Lol By the way I forgot to tell you how enjoyed the video. My father bought this very watch model by Rolex as he felt that it was more robust than his regular Omega. My, oh my, was he wrong! The watch caused him more grievances over the years than all of his other watches combined. And at a hefty price at that. When sadly he passed away, I gladly let my sister have it. And I have never got within a mile of Rolex again. Also, mixing gold and silver is very, very bad taste. What I always say about Rolex: pimps, members of the mafia, low-life riff-raff, drug dealers and other people you do not want to meet wear them. There is one exception maybe: Roger Federer. But he should be wearing much classier watches than big, fat, basic, over-priced and boring Rolexes.

Everybody has different experiences but it is unfortunate to have a lot of issues with a rolex. It is not silver but steel and I agree a two tone watch is spécial. You either love it or hate it
