Elvis Presley asked his Father, Vernon about the night he was born. His Twin brother was first and stillborn. Vernon went outside to smoke, looked up in the sky and there was a brilliant blue light. He said he knew Elvis was going to be very special the moment he saw that light.

I saw him in concert in 1976 and he sang America the Beautiful, he announced because it was the bicentennial year! After he passed, the song came out as a single! Which I bought! Thanks!

You've GOT to see this same performance!!! This exact performance is available on KZfaq of him performing it live. The command he had of the stage was awe inspiring. As the horns are playing just before the last verse, he turns his face towards the band and has this incredibly intense look on his face as he encourages the band to really bring it home. Then he swings around to the audience and finishes the song with the voice of an archangel and throws his arms wide at the very end. Simply mesmerizing. Such command of the stage with very little movement.

I watched this concert as a 10 year old when it first aired back in 1973. It made me a life-long fan of his and my parents and I saw him in concert twice back in 1976-77. Both of my parents are now gone but his music will always be associated with their memory!

I saw Elvis in concert in San Diego in 1976. I was mesmerized when he sang this. I looked at my mom who had a single tear rolling down her cheek. I asked her if she was okay and she said that he was singing about himself 💜
