My father was in the Vietnam War and he always wanted to be buried at Arlington, but he couldn't. But he did make it to a Military Base Cemetery here in Massachusetts. He had a full military funeral. When they played TAPS and soluted his casket I couldn't stop crying because I felt so very proud to be his son!

I have a family member buried at Arlington National Cemetery. It’s something to be truly proud of to have a family member who’s been buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Being there sends chills down your spine and is something that’s hard to explain what you feel when you are there walking the grounds past all the fallen American hero’s buried there.

I also appreciate our troops and veterans. I did not serve, but my grandfather (Boxer Rebellion, artillery), father (WW2, Navy pilot in the Pacific), and son (Bridger and infantry, Iraq and Afghanistan) all served. When my son deployed I told people that having a child go off to war was the most terrifying thing a parent can be proud of. Trace Adkins is a great performer. My uncle died last month..Marine Corp...Korea and Vietnam combat veteran. He will be buried at Arlington but that won't happen for almost a year...I didn't know how long families had to wait for their loved ones to be laid to rest. He was always invincible to me...even at the age of 88. I know I won't be able to keep my composure at Arlington. I barely did when my sister-in-law was buried (Army) at a different cemetery. I insisted on Arlington for my uncle even though that was not in the "list" of places his wife was thinking about....I am relieved that things were changed to Arlington. But as special as Arlington is, any place a veteran is laid to rest is sacred ground in my opinion. Thank you for doing this reaction.

This is such a powerful song & Trace's voice is piercing & beautiful. God bless your brother & thank him for his service & I pray he recovered well from his injuries. My brother & his wife were both in the Air force & she passed first & was cremated & her ashes were interned until my brother passed & then they put her in his coffin with him. They are buried together in a beautiful national military cemetery like this, here in MIchigan. All her info is on one side of the stone & his is on the other side. Those places are so beautiful & serene & you swell up with pride in our heroes, as you feel the weight of their tragic losses. Never feel ashamed to show what you feel. That means you are human... and for the record, real men do cry. LOL

I was blessed to go to DC and Arlington Cemetery. While walking alongside the property to the entrance of Arlington, I could feel a solemn heaviness that was bittersweet and heartbreaking. Taking in all of the tombstones for as far as I could see put a lump in my throat that made it hard to swallow my sobs. By the time I stepped onto the sacred grounds, I could barely breathe. I could feel the prayers and pain and the past. It was humbling.
