Just watch the videos and be glad that someone is trying these things for your information! Salt is not unhealthy nor are sausages and bread rolls. All things in moderation should be the watchword!

The sauce in the picture will be German mustard, which is completely different to American squirty mustard (and far tastier). Surprised they didn’t include a sachet of it.

Ah, now you're talking! Either one of these would be great, and the price isn't bad, either. Yes, I remember Bratwurst and Currywurst from when I lived (as a civilian) in Germany. There was a Frittenbude near the tram stop just up the road from my apartment and they still served Fritten and Wurst till about 11 pm. The husband and wife team made enough money over the years to take over the lease of a pub that was even closer. They still sold Bratwurst though.

Currywurst is usually served by just cutting the sausage into small pieces (they drop it into a machine that chops it up lengthways) onto a paper plate (like the small flat cardboard thing for a small portion of fries) and covered with curry sauce and served with a bread roll (Brötchen) on the side. Never seen it served like a hot dog. The Bratwurst looks ok.

Just get a 6 pack of Bratwurst sausages from Morrisions and a bottle of Heinz curry sauce (as shown) Every time I've been to Germany, onions don't usually come with currywurst 'Pommees mit currywurst' from a local street imbiss. A staple diet for UK Forces in Germany.

They looked ideal for a late week or weekend treat if you don`t want to pay out for a Takeaway. I`d defo get 2 goes out of a pack cos i`d have a pile of wedges and Garlic Mushrooms as well+ good that you can separate them and put 1 back in the freezer. One tip= put your sauce/Mustard on first, then your toppings cos more of them stick to the sauce. Fair play to Aldis for coming up with new tasty products at a decent price in difficult times. 🙂

I make my own with Bratwurst from Lidl about £2.50 for six so with a roll it would cost about 75p each. Plenty of recipes online on how to make a genuine currywurst sauce.

Yes, the Lidl genuine German Bratwurst are excellent and cook very well in the air fryer for 10 minutes at 190°.

I think these aren't great value, as you could just pop to lidl and grab a pack of 6 brats for £2.49 and all the other bits n pieces for not much more and way more for your money!

Not too mention the currywurst kit isn't that nice. The sausages have a strange taste, they added to much of that smokey flavouring. I wouldn't buy the kit again & only did as it was £2. You could buy their large sausages 10 for £3.50, the difference is that they taste better and have 90% pork. Or their Cumberland sausages that taste really good, 8 for £1.79. Buy the rolls you like and make a sauce. I make a cheese sauce/roux adding the seasoning to the butter before adding flour. Any left over sauce can be added to macaroni.

The crusty bun would put me off. I'd probably defrost them overnight and toast the open side myself. Come to think of it, the sausages would also probably be better defrosted and cooked in a pan or on the grill. You should try the new fake Nando's from Aldi - the peri-peri chips are especially good.

Another great vid as usual. You will find that all of the prepared foods are loaded with salt. As you get accustomed to using less salt, you will become more sensitive to the salt in them. I can't even eat certain things anymore (and I used to put salt on just about EVERYTHING) . Cheers Pat in New Jersey

We really like bratwurst, usually get them from Lidl who do a normal and a chilli version. Last time I bought some was June and I think they were on offer at £1.99 for a pack of 6. Expect thats ended now. Don't bother with bread (gluten intolerance) just eat them with a dollop of sauerkraut and strong mustard.

Nice one Gaz it's about time Aldi started to sell Bratwurst/Currywurst always loved them when going to Germany/Austria. You're right about the salt though when you try and cut down you tend to notice it more when there's a lot of it and the same with sugar.

@@Mark1405Leeds They dissappeared many years before Brexit a long with pretty much all the traditional German food they used to sell.Which I always thought was a shame seeing as it's a German store but I guess not enough Brits were buying the stuff. Lidl still sell Bratwursts though.

It sure does look good, I can savour the aroma from here in Canada. When my dad/family in the British army was stationed at Osnabruck in Germany in 1966, we often had Bratwurst and other style Getman sausages.😊

Great video Gareth. If you read the ingredients, they will be listed in order of decreasing amount - so Pork being first on the list is still the main ingredient. Turkey (or chicken) is actually quite a common additive to some of the budget priced German sausages, so really not that big a deal. In the end the final test is the eating - and I think I will definitely be trying them soon.

In Germany, a Krakower (Cracowian) is usually not sold as a Bratwurst (which just translates as fried sausage). They are usually more expensive as bigger and smoked. Also, the original Currywurst (in Berlin) is not made with Bratwurst, but with a sort of boiled sausage.... Confusion. Admittedly Bratwurst is often used outside of Berlin, eg in western Germany.

Vielen Dank, dass Sie Ihren Kanal wieder haben. Bratwurst und Krakauer kann man immer essen. Curryschlechteste Pommes gibt es in Deutschland immer schnell, ein Brötchen mit Senf und ein Bier. Danke. In England wird das immer mit dem Hot Dog verglichen, weshalb es immer der Unsinn damit drauf, Ketchup usw. ist.

Cracovian - "Krakauer" - Bratwurst are German, but they're a kind of "tribute" to the Krakowska smoked sausage from Poland.

@@nowayjose668 I'd blame the packaging. It says "Bratwurst Meal Kit" on the box, and "Cracovian Smoked Sausage" on the plastic bag in which the sausages are sealed. Krakauer, like their Polish cousins "Krakowska" are most definitely smoked. Strictly speaking the former is a "Räucherwurst" (smoked sausage), but I thought that saying so would be a tad long-winded, if not pedantic. Besides, my main interest was merely to explain what "Cracovian" meant.

Hi Gareth from Spain. They are both Bratwursts, it is just that one is smoked. When we have hotdogs, the missus (mine, not yours) likes to have those onion bits on hers, + mustard + ketchup + mayonnaise. I just like a little tomato ketchup. Personally, I think they are more fanfare than a bargain.

Ah, these look great. What's great is I'm gluten free so can't usually have these type of sausages but because you always show the full ingredients, I see as long as I use my own gf bun, i can have both of these (apart from onions) Thanks v much, I wouldn't have even looked at them in Aldi as i would've assumed they'd be a no-no. Cheers for that!!!

These look amazing,I've never actually tried Currywurst :O , Gaz i come across in Tesco "Frenches taste of america" line and they have "Honey & Chipole".."Buttermilk Chicken" "Carolina Chicken" "Nashville Chicken" etc They're basically like a seasoning kit and you add your own bits etc,Look amazing..in my local store they're quite hidden on an end near where the pop and biscuits are of all places,Obviously could be different in your local but would love for you to give one of those a go on your channel :)

Crazy, the Bratwurst looks like Bockwurst, and curry wurst looks like Bratwurst which should be Veal, but this has Turkey mix. Think Aldi might be done under trades description. Think I'll stick with the right ones from Lidl where a Bock I'd Bock & a Brat is a Brat. 😁

We had a Schnell Imbiss just up the road from Trenchard Barracks in on Hohe Wende. It was the best around and close to camp and the married quarters. On most nights there would be a ‘ Brattie run ‘ from our Sqn Bar. My kids usually opted for Frickadellen with chips and mustard. Me and my wife would either go for Gyros, a Currywurst or a 1/2 chicken. All with chips maybe some Tzatziki, but always Mayo on the chips. When I feel nostalgic? I grab a Bratwurst or two from the freezer and knock up a Currywurst. My dog prefers a Frikadellen, without the mustard 🥴🥴.

Just had a proper wave of nostalgia. Harp music & everything 😁 Bratties & senf, gyros pita mit tzatziki & real pretzels washed down with Herforder. 6 marvelous, memorable years in Bielefeld & Gutersloh. I'd go back tomorrow 👌

We used to have a quite regular market in Brighton Marina. The stalls came from all over Europe. There was a really great Bratty Wagon. All the usual foods were there, from Currywurst, Frikkadelen,Gyros and even pork knuckles. It was going to heaven😇😇. There was always a queue and to my surprise it mostly ex Forces who had served in Germany. Made a lot of new friends. Spent time in the local pub playing ‘ shot dice ‘, hammering nails into a log and a few others. Sadly the market seemed to fade. If I had the where with all? I would certainly open a Schnell Imbiss and get a real German to run it, preferably one who had experience with the Forces. I think it certainly give these Kebab shops, chicken and rib shops a run for their money. So nice to see so many ex Forces supporting Gareth in what he’s doing 😃😃. And remember! The Schnelly needs you 🫵🫵.

Just reminded me I need to get some curry sauce used to live on it, I don't think prices are going to come down anytime soon, I've read you can get a Iceland food voucher for £25 to £100 but you pay them back at £10 a week 😮

If you were a squaddie based in Germany you would know this comfort food. It was English servicemen who bought the curry powder from England creating the currywurst also turkey is used frequently.

Could you please do us a home workout video, using household items, for those of us who do not have equipment & do not live near a gym? Some of them suggest holding tins of beans instead of using hand weights but my hands are not big enough. My fingers are not long enough to curl around the can & the cans went flying. Having a can land on a bare foot at speed did not encourage me to continue working out.

I could not begin to count the number of bratties I've consumed over the years, but I have never had a smoked bratty. For some time now, my wife has been unable to find a pack of six bratties Aldi used to sell on the chilled counter. I used to have a pack a month. They also used to sell a pack of chilled German frikkies, which I purchased regularly. Fortunately, Lidl still sell packs of chilled bratties.

Not sure if theyre the same, but they sell the packs of 6 in Lidl, plain and chilli bratwurst. Tesco have also started to sell packs of 6 Bratwurst too. Both are around £3 a pack. I buy some every time i see them.

Bratwurst chili or normal in Lidl have a good shelf life usually anyway. I think they are very filling ad a sausage and as they are already cooked are very safe for hungry youngsters or anyone using a disposable BBQ. I never have much freezer space so probably would prefer to make my own up. Don't need to use much fuel just browning them either.

The best shop bought hot dogs are Rollover, or the Aldi ones in a glass jar. Bratwurst is usually beef or veal. Bockwurst is pork.

I too had a sausage breakfast. English style Saveloy split on a Turkish roll with thin sliced Spanish onion with Australian spicy BBQ sauce, yummy.

Thanks for putting in the effort for the video. The protein content seems reasonably high. Just for me personally, seems a complicated cooking method. If you're going to do a ready meal then fork fork fork, microwave, stir, microwave, wait, eat.
