Look how far you have both came, from when you first got the land, building the hot tub, water system, cabin, you both have come a long way, I see the both of you working your butt off, can't wait to see it done, and what I like the most is that you both are so thankful to those that have help you along the way, thank you for sharing you story at least with me, I know you have haters out here, but don't give them the time of day, enjoy each other keep thanking God, and enjoy life, can't wait for the next up date,

Right on Sherrill. As a self employed contractor I know how stressful it can be to use a new product,but these guys are unfamilar with the product, tools, knowledge and skills it takes to complete a project. I think they are doing a fine job. They can work on my job site any time. Having said that, now is a good time to take a few days to sit in the creek enjoy some time with friends and reflect on far you've come. Trust me you'll be glad that you did.

Hi I am a new subscriber but have been following your work for a while. In my opinion it is both of you that makes your channel so interesting and valuable. Specifically you both care for one another (your well being and emotional support for one another is awesome to see every day, from beginning to end of day), you are not bothered by your mistakes and freely share your learning experience, you both work so well together and understand one another (how you think about the project and share ideas together, very complementary!). A channel featuring either one of you would not be nearly as interesting, it is both of you that is the success of your channel. I am sure your comments from some viewers come from their learning and professional experience to their credit but you guys share a special relationship with us that I think is greater than home building. I am an old retired guy whose wife passed away more than two years ago and I miss her more than any projects I have done. Please continue your precious time together sharing with us if it pleases you. Thanks!

I know you studied, and read up on what you were going to do. Or were getting yourselves into. And nothing will ever match the satisfaction you both have when you are all done. Great Vid guys. Really enjoying watching your progress. So happy for you. Jessie, I know you don't read these, but hopefully Alyssa does. Go get one of those cheap canvas carpenter aprons from the big box store. It's a great place to put your tape measure, screws, pencils.... will save you a ton of time and effort. And you won't have a shirt pocket full of screws. Just an idea. God Bless

You guys are doing great! Don't forget safety though. A basic fall arrest harness will save your life when you are near the edge on a tall structure and tired. Even folks in the trades use them. One 6 foot fall can end your life if you land wrong. Also stick to hand tools if you have to cut towards yourself. Much less likely to do serious damage. Finally, speaking as someone who learned the hard way...always lift with your legs and not your back. Remember, you have a long way to go so pace yourselves for the long term and to avoid burn out. Remember to take moments to enjoy the process and the learning. We are rooting for you! Take care of yourselves and each other!

also I love that you're sorting screws... some contractors just dump the box out in the dirt and go get a new box... it drives me crazy. It's good to see others care about materials because hired labor rarely does.

Awesome. I have been away at sea for a week, without access to your house updates. My elephant turds came in real handy when leveling a spot on the hill for our shed/boutique. Used it on the ground then poured fill on top for the pad.

Wow you guys are kicking it! I know it is way too late, but for future reference you can bend the sawsall blades so you can cut flush from the inside of them foam blocks, if that makes sense. Cheers!

Tip for the sawzall, always keep the guard against what your cutting, otherwise your fighting the tool.

Somebody has probably said this already but if you place the sawzall foot against the surface it cuts way more efficiently and is quicker and much less effort. Also brushing the forms is required by the manufacturer so good on you ;)

I can't agree totally with that one, sorry dcsoxford, good observation though, well spotted. On looks alone I would say yes, but I'm a Mechanic and I don't wear my wedding band to work for safety reasons. I'm thinking because of the physical labour and the nature of the work involved, it might be a practical reason to not wear wedding bands.

Your build specs. R-23 insulation value + fire rating + rebar tie strength provide an incredibly strong foundation. Can't wait for the timberframing to commence!

Hey Jesse double check the measurement of the IBeam spec's on the drawing to the actual new walls "as drawn and as built" right !
