Im curious how you built her tbh. I did get her and im having an absolute blast in the DD hunter role. Ive returned a 79% WR after 24 games in her. She wins games - she wins by taking an early DD engagement, usually with first blood, then supporting her flank before clearing out left over DDs as the game progresses. Try staggering your click on the burst fire so it doesnt shoot in such waves. I think shes a phenomenal cap contester.

Got this ship from Independence Day chests along with the Halford.

Two things you missed, it has 13.5 torps. And it’s a fletcher that goes 44 knots.

It's at least comforting to see them introduce a legendary ship like the USS Johnston. Next up should be the ship that fought beside her. The Destroyer Escort that fought like a Battleship, the USS Roberts.

I would Make it a coal ship, slight increase in firing accuracy and rate, increased maneuverability, and give it the slow heal you get from arms race drops.

I watched SeaRaptor's reviews and he came to a similar conclusion. Johnston was set up to play as a gunboat on the Fletcher hull, which is already lacking in it's health pool. Johnston needs a Heal mechanic. Otherwise...Fletcher is the better ship to play so save your Dubs and $$. Like you, I really wanted to put Johnston in my Port, even if it was just a special skin for the Fletcher. I'm voting with my wallet on this one and letting WG know that I'm not satisfied with the product they presented. Thanks for the video. Glad to see you back!

I do have it and I actually do very well in it. One full burst salvo on a dd can almost dev strike the enemy dd.

You can buy the ship directly on it's own in the shop for the standard tier IX price.

1) I got it absolutely for free. I managed to get 170 Independence day tokens & bought 17 crates with them and got the Johnston in them 2) it's much faster & maneuverable than Fletcher 3) one SAP burst at any enemy DD will cause them to panic & run away shitless it's a very good DD imho

Sad to hear, the Enterprise also came to console without the rocket planes. I guess I can wait for the Johnston to come to console and then go on sale.

Should have had a super heal so you could carry the fight to the enemy longer. Wouldn’t buy anyways at the price they set it at. It’s an affront to the brave crew that they’ve made it such a money grab.

If they have it a heal on top of the sap burst fire it would have been received better

The best thing they could have done to reflect the historical nature of this ship was to have given it mad saturation.

It is much cheaper in the Premium Shop without the Admiral Pack. This does not make it better, only cheaper.

Great to see you making videos once-again. I wish you and yours all the best in your lives and endeavors. I am saddened to hear that the Johnston is lacking in game. I had a family member who served aboard a Fletcher class DD, U.S.S. Abbot DD-629. They sailed along side of ships like Kidd, New York, Iowa, and so many others. I met a number of the crew, old shipmates, and heard their stories...both exact details and some a tad embellished. I'm so disappointed to hear/see that WG is using the honored name of the Johnston as a money grab, rather than a splendid tribute to her memory. While I do feel that one can never have too many Fletchers in port, I wish they had done right by Johnston. I further wish WG would add DE's, particularly the U.S.S. Samuel B. Roberts DE-413. Random thought: I'd love to see a bundle with U.S.S. Abbot DD629 and U.S.S. Cowpens CVL-25.

I lucked out and got mine from the chests I acquired using the US tokens. No games in it yet though.

IF WG had given this boat a torp reload similar to the one on the Kidd, I would have gotten it. But as is, it´s a hard pass for me.

they should of given in a rapid fire and rapid torpedo reload because in the battle off samar they threw a lot of lead along with the other tin cans that should of been the gimmick faster guns faster torps faster reload faster speed and a faster repair basically make it a suicide fighter

That's to bad. It is a famous ship. They should have tweeked it, or maybe added sonar, or even radar. Yeah, not for me.

I was so stoked about the ship until i played it, sucks that a real steel ship with such a historical history attached to it sucks as bad as it does. I just released a vid n its got Samar footage n when they fount the ship at after she sunk.

Got lucky and won no money the ship opened 18 wings of freedom containers and got it on the 6th wings of freedom container on Steam.

You really dont undestand why Johnston is so powerfull. Its gimmick is SAP and Burst fire. You have to use burst fire almost all the time cos burst fire will give you around 18% better reload time than without it. You base DPM with SAP and burst is 203k. Its even better than Kitekaze in DPM with friesland only tier 9 that has better DPM. Also burst fire is better for hit and run style so you can just chunk dds with SAP and turn around. So you have slightly better DPM than Kitakaze but with fletcher hull, concealment, turning radius and even better speed than fletcher. SAP is also better if you want to chunk some cruisers/bbs and just give them demage if they are already on fire or you want them down fast cos it has 36mm pen instead of 21mm on HE. Torps are worse in reload and demage but for todays meta when you have lot of radars and people are not much pushing its better to have longer range. Fletcher torps are just better when ships are pushing into you. Overall I would say Johnston is better DD than fletcher. In direct combat between these two you will just slaughter him with SAP if he didnt get some lucky torp hit or good support from his team.

why must it had gimmicks , its really all these gimmicks that's really hurting the game , so no gimmicks and just plain NOT OP , to me is actually a positive , I would say the alternative firing mode is what one need to exploit , I do agree the torp need to be better , and yeah its not really worth the Doub .. but as far as a DD at the tier and basically balanced its perfectly OK Historically it does not really had much as far as gimmicks goes ....

I hate WG for their bias agains US ships, they are the worst. The only reason the game is still alive is ONLY because of their graphics department and they are provably underpay them for sure, is WG.

This is the worst take yet about the ship. She is doing just fine. Y'all are trying to play her like a torp boat if you are griping this mutch.
