If you think subs are OP...you need to stop making content, immediately. Subs are harder to play than any class, by far. The numbers do not lie, they have the lowest DPM of any ship. That was the sub doing a good job and outplaying you. That doesnt mean the game is broken. It means he outplayed you.

I watched SeaRaptor's reviews and he came to a similar conclusion. Johnston was set up to play as a gunboat on the Fletcher hull, which is already lacking in it's health pool. Johnston needs a Heal mechanic. Otherwise...Fletcher is the better ship to play so save your Dubs and $$. Like you, I really wanted to put Johnston in my Port, even if it was just a special skin for the Fletcher. I'm voting with my wallet on this one and letting WG know that I'm not satisfied with the product they presented. Thanks for the video. Glad to see you back!

I have that on the helena and a few more ships, but I do not know how to use it, when is active I press shift but I still have the same horizontal view, is there a special key to have that view from above, please help anybody.

I hate WG for their bias agains US ships, they are the worst. The only reason the game is still alive is ONLY because of their graphics department and they are provably underpay them for sure, is WG.

The best thing they could have done to reflect the historical nature of this ship was to have given it mad saturation.

The Battleship New York BB34 had three hulls in rl. She was refitted twice. Once for WWI and again for WWII. Each time having a complete new hull being raised under her and fastened on. She was enduringly referred to as the Old Lady of the Sea. This endearment was meant more as your angry, hard knocked life, old granny. She stalked the Nazi Wolfpack in the North Atlantic before going to the Pacific campaign to battle the Japanese fleet. The New York had the habit of showing up at an engagement, like Iwo Jima and Okinawa, and firing more rounds then the rest of the ships present combined. She survived two atomic blast and was towed to Hawaii for study. She was later taken out for target practice for new Jet Pilots. The pilots drew straws to see who went first, thinking the first guy would sink her. They all had numerous runs through out the day. She took many hits, no one missed. That day's Range Master that was running the maneuvers placed a comment at the end of his notes that read, "It was as if the Old Lady just didn't want to give up the ghost." The surviving crew of the New York used to have a New York BB34 paper they would print once a year about the surviving crew members and how they were doing. They've all died off some time ago now though. My oldman died way back in 70.

I do have it and I actually do very well in it. One full burst salvo on a dd can almost dev strike the enemy dd.

they should of given in a rapid fire and rapid torpedo reload because in the battle off samar they threw a lot of lead along with the other tin cans that should of been the gimmick faster guns faster torps faster reload faster speed and a faster repair basically make it a suicide fighter

why must it had gimmicks , its really all these gimmicks that's really hurting the game , so no gimmicks and just plain NOT OP , to me is actually a positive , I would say the alternative firing mode is what one need to exploit , I do agree the torp need to be better , and yeah its not really worth the Doub .. but as far as a DD at the tier and basically balanced its perfectly OK Historically it does not really had much as far as gimmicks goes ....

It is much cheaper in the Premium Shop without the Admiral Pack. This does not make it better, only cheaper.

I was so stoked about the ship until i played it, sucks that a real steel ship with such a historical history attached to it sucks as bad as it does. I just released a vid n its got Samar footage n when they fount the ship at after she sunk.

Got lucky and won no money the ship opened 18 wings of freedom containers and got it on the 6th wings of freedom container on Steam.

Johnston doesn't fit in the current meta, which is stealthy torpedo boats. Ships with 5'/38 guns have not been viable gunboats for a long time. They're for close range defense only. A Plan B if you happen to stumble upon another DD. If you try to gunboat with them, Montana's and cruisers are just gonna bitch slap you until you learn to not do that. Sure I've seen them sometimes do very well. I've also seen them take so much damage that they are irrelevant for the rest of the game.

It's at least comforting to see them introduce a legendary ship like the USS Johnston. Next up should be the ship that fought beside her. The Destroyer Escort that fought like a Battleship, the USS Roberts.

So many good silver DD's out there, like the daring with hard hitting auto bounce AP AND a heal and hydro to fish this thing out of smoke. Would play that any day over this for and you will 90% win...and it's Free. That's to name just one ship .

Here’s the thought. You fight during the burst and juke during the cooldown. Burst blast right before you go behind islands. It’s safer.

1) I got it absolutely for free. I managed to get 170 Independence day tokens & bought 17 crates with them and got the Johnston in them 2) it's much faster & maneuverable than Fletcher 3) one SAP burst at any enemy DD will cause them to panic & run away shitless it's a very good DD imho

I agree it´s not worth it since the SAP with either the burst fire mode on or off is not OP. Thus, there is no reason for the torp reload to be so long! If the Johnston had a torp reload somewhere between the reload of the Fletcher and the KIdd it would be worth it for me. But not as is.

That test mean nothing. You are too far away to hit all shells. So in first case you can hit less than in next one with fletcher. Cos in my test I kill him in 3x burst and you have to use 4x. And of course with Fletcher you have fire on Harugumo and when he will get out of fight like run or smoke up he will DCP that fire and just dont let it burn full time. Only thing that matter is DPM and ability to tranfer that into demage. And thats what SAP and burst fire is all about. To have that moment when you spot each other and shot and turn away. You will not stand near him for 40 seconds shooting. Base DPM on Johnston burst with SAP is like 26% more than fletcher with HE and thats all that matters. Johston with gun reload module has +- same gun power as Gearing without guns reload mode and thats not bad. You woudnt normally say oh thats not much difference between that and fletcher. Yeah its big difference like one tier difference.

I get the concerns with it, and I would have really loved a heal, but Johnston's burst fire makes it pretty dangerous in the opening stages of a battle, especially when challenging caps. Certain HP thresholds are in insta-kill range for Johnston's burst, where it would take 10-ish seconds for Fletcher to kill the same target. I've binged Johnston since she released. It's a fun ship that really is only held back by the match maker. In her own tier, she's very good as a gunship, and only struggles badly against Friesland/Groningen and Mogador/Kleber/Marceau, but Fletcher can't deal with them either. IMO, it's good in it's favorable scenarios, but definitely could have been more.

they should made johnston a T10 with op stuff, like a super heal, sap with normal reload. But i don't expect much from GW anymore, best of 2024 is winsconsin

The Johnston is good for close range clutch situations against other DDs. I had a Kitakaze sneak around an island and wiped it off the seas with alternate mode. But that lack of heal meant for the rest of the match i was solely spotting.
