I'm officially 30 today so I wanted to celebrate by giving y'all a video that doesn't suck! Here's to 30 more years of talking about how we will probably die in most doomsday scenarios!

I like the fact they didn't show up much. It allowed for an actual plot and when they did show up on screen, they were terrifying!

In the extra material of the film there are small animated stories of other people, in one of them the perspective of an infected couple is shown and how (at least in the first days of the infection) they believe to be healthy, seeing normal humans as monsters that release a sweet substance (blood) when they die, their feral behavior in the movie may be due to hunger and time

If I remember correctly in the book the dark seekers were decently intelligent. So much so the protagonists was their boogy man. Which makes the good ending slightly more likely

Main character should've just slapped all the vampire infected

(Assuming you're immune) If they couldn't figure out what solar panels and windmills are you could get a bunker with one or several hooked up, stock it with A LOT of UV lights and plants stocked up you could live for a while, especially if you had enough room for trees and enough plants to cover your daily nutrition needs. Also it wouldn't hurt to have flame throwers at the entrance

Yes that was the Alpha's daughter aka a teenager. Finally someone got it right. people were saying it was his wife. The creator said no it was his daughter that Robert got a hold of.

I think if someone actually survived all of that, the final killer would be depression and not letting it end you by your own hand while living in a totally dead and hostile world, IF you did survive everything else. Which honestly I do like how the movie touches on this when he loses his dog, lost of hope is a person's most dangerous killer.

I always felt like I was living in a parallel universe with those different endings

I actually prefer the original “truce” ending, as it is closer to the reference material and showcases how the two evolutionary lines are killing eachother. Robert Neville was supposed to be a bogeyman for the new world, an ancient monster of the old world that captures and experiments on what he sees as monsters, becoming one himself without realizing it. That’s what “I am Legend” means. But because Hollywood has no spine, they had to WWZ it up for some feel goods.

I read the book alot as a kid and lemme tell you, I was very upset there wasn't angry booty shaking vampires every night was a HUGE let down

On the bright side, the strength these people exhibit is based off adrenaline. They are capable of superhuman feats... technically, but they do have human bodies that will quickly deteriorate by over use. They would burn out even before running out of food due to organ failure or simply their bones fracturing.

I believe the "bad" ending is more likely the original? I remember the novel ends with the protagonist realize in this new time, he became the monster and swallow painkiller to end his live

The one thing I hate in this movie, is when she "rescues will smith" Will: "They don't know where I live wait until dawn. So they can't follow." Will: "Was it daytime when you brought me back?" Random girl: "No, it wasn't quite dawn" Bitch what did he tell you

It's impressive how Hollywood is able to make mediocre movies based off of great books like I am legend and world War Z. I am legend is still a good movie.I loved I am legend growing up and still do it's just that the ending of the movie is the generic happy Hollywood ending that doesn't do the book justice and missis the point of why the book is called "I am legend". The alternate ending of the movie is closer to the books because in the books infected humans that died came back as mindless killing but infected humans that didn't die kept all thier humanity but turned into vampires that wanted to rebuiled society.

As someone who suffers from occasional intense migraines, I can definitely see how constant pain, especially migraines can turn one into their baser instincts. It's quite scary indeed~

I’ve been thinking this whole time that he was losing his mind from being alone and under stress for so long and forget a trap he had set to get another “patient” to experiment on, inherently getting caught in one of his own traps.

To increase my chances I would live on a boat some distance off the coast instead of in a fortified apartment. Since they still have complete motor function, some higher brain functioning to plan and learn patterns and behaviors they may attempt to swim toward the boat at night but they would have to swim pretty far and if they attempt it frequently they may have to worry about marine predators. I don't care how strong they are water is not their element and it would provide a really good form of environmental defense.

As a ginger with a shaved head who works nights and sleeps most of the day currently, I consider myself an early incarnation of the darkseekers.

Honestly the best thing that you can do in a situation like this is stick to the countryside. You know open fields that are in Texas Kansas etc. yes the dark seekers can travel out there but they won’t be in colossal numbers like in the cities. You have a better chance in fighting them if you’re out in the country. Basically the same thing that we see in the survival colony at the end of the movie. However it does make you wonder how long it will take for these infected to die out on their own. I’m guessing maybe a decade or two. At some point they’ll start killing themselves and they’ll die of starvation later on.

Imagine forgetting to bleach the area around your hideout one time and 70+ vampbies crash through your door while you're taking a nap

Ive actually studied this really thoroughly because my dad loves this movie and the only way to entirely stop them if they are trying to get to you is pretty much either a bank safe or a bunker but on top of this they would now know you can hide in there from them so from this point you have pretty much 1 light cycle to leave the safe unscathed by their traps and either move everything (if you hadnt already done this) move all of your belongings into it or leave the city or town you were in entirely keep in mind all in one light cycle this has to be done i also did some statistical analysis on how well one would do traveling in this post apocalyptic scenario it would be terribly hard but you would have to completely mask your scent and the cars scent (exhaust, heat radiation ect.) if you would have to stop at night now since i have no idea if the vampires migrate or travel i would have to assume that if they dont travel they atleast scout out as dar as they can for potential food sources or things to just ravage in general the best and we are talking best which isnt saying alot would be living out in the country with practically no other human life within miles and just seeing how driven and swift these things are they could very well cover those few miles in an hour but if you were made aware of the situation and the vamps being a known broadcasted side effect you would have a few options in the scenario now lets just say you are a farmer and you own just a standard wooden house firstly livestock either must be kept inside or killed a seasoned survivor would just lead the animals away and kill them or set them loose far from home now onto the house assuming you have a 5 year backstock of food like most hermits do your first priority is essentially reinforcing one location in the house preferably with one entrance and exit this could be a bathroom or walkin closet but just for the sake of it you know what these things do they rip through everythings so sheet metal on the exterior walls too this room is a must they may be strong and they may rip through drywall and wood but they arent going to get through sheet metal on their first try if you attach it properly now floor reinforcement as well as roof reinforcement is where it gets tricky but being the hermit farmer you are youve most likely got plenty of metal just lying around anchoring metal of any kind to the floor is a 100% must the ceiling has a few options chainlink fencing anchored to metal joists around the room is honestly how i would do it because i can stab or otherwise shoot them before they have a real chance to even begin to break through the chainlink now this is where you’re all “well if there is too many of them they are just gonna weigh down the chainlink and eventually it will fail” see but ive anchored this chainlink to metal joists around the room so it would take alot of weight at stress to really break through it chainlink standing up is easy to get through enough constant pressure will topple or pop one of the links or knock a pole over but either way the most optimal situation to be in when this happens is in the middle of nowhere anywhere that is classified as a legit nowhere

If they’re smart enough to set traps like us they’re also more than likely capable of searching out food as well. More than likely there wouldn’t be any scavenging because they’ll be looking for the food too

my theory is that if you have cancer ( or a specific type of cancer ) you are immune to the virus i mean it would explain alot and maybe instead of attacking your body the virus does what it was meant for, and actually gets rid of your cancer and you dont become a zombie vampire

Seems very focused on everyone, which is most to be fair, that live in cities and towns. The people living in mountains, off grid, or just remote enough would be a different story. As long as they have water via a well or even better a lake or river stocked with fish, they'd be able to survive much easier. It wouldn't be until the vampires depleted everything from all the cities around that they would dare venture into the remoteness, and even then, probably wouldn't have enough to make the trip unless they are smart enough to plan it out. While I was work from home, I spent about four months at my camper drinking filtered water, eating fish I caught, and only made one trip to the store just for what I would call normalcy items. Of course, I was eating fish only a couple times a week but in a survival situation you could up that without worrying about mercury levels or any of that. I also have solar, and a generator to make up for the rest, but again in a survival situation you wouldn't really need electricity as you could just cook over fire in the daytime. Wouldn't make for a very good movie tho.

What I've gathered from watching a lot of these videos is that if anything like a zombie apocalypse ever happens the last remaining humans would most likely be small remote tribes/villages across the globe. They grow up knowing how to hunt/gather and are far away from sources of infection.

If the game plague is anything to go on, a super high and fast mortality rate is bad for transmission because the host dies before they get a chance to spread it and the symptoms are so obvious that most people will recognize and avoid the infected. That’s just a fun game though and might not be very realistic. Just thought I would throw that out there.

A reinforced concrete structure with narrow chokepoints defended by machine-gun emplacements should be able to defend against the nightwalkers indefinitely unless they can use tools or siege engines. Human flesh can't tear through concrete or thick steel no matter how empowered without tool use.

Idk why, but I always thought that the virus wasn't a global thing and was just contained in the city that Will Smith was at. I thought that the city was permaquarantined by the government and Will stayed behind to try to find a cure.

It's wierd how all three adaptations of the book - The Last Man on Earth, The Omega Man and I am Legend all take different wierd liberties with the tone and story. Ridley Scott was going to do a version with Arnold Schwernegger that got as far as make-up tests starting, and even that was going to be VERY different to the book.

I cannot recommend the book enough, it's incredible and for it to be published in 1954 is testament to Richard Matheson writing abilities. Unfortunately the film falls short in comparison.

I remember me and my friend saw this in theaters being huge fans of the book by Richard Matheson, the first time the “cgi creatures” were shown all huddled and hyperventilating in the corner of a dark room, me and my friend BURSTED OUT LAUGHING in the completely quiet theatre

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the infected humans die out pretty quickly? The huge amounts of food they would need to sustain even a small population of humans with a hummingbird like constantly energized system would drain the local resources pretty quickly. Not to mention that if they do pretty much have adrenaline constantly pumping into their systems the hearts of these creatures would give out in a relatively short amount of time too.

I preffered the sacrifice ending. Robert was all alone, using these 'monsters' as they hunted him down and cornered him. I thought his sacrifice was more dramatic and much better as he sacrificed everything to help others as he was the cure. Also I dont think I have ever cried as much during an outbreak movie. Lastly, there is a scene with a mannequin (I have a fear of them) that 'breathes' to trap Neville. Just interesting and clever how they trapped him.
