I forgot which book but if I remember correctly, Wedge said, "Rogue Squadron are pilots that can act as commandos. I need commandos that can act as pilots. That's Wraith Squadron." Or something along those lines.

That’s from Wraith Squadron, the first book of the trilogy.

Stackpole may have written better dogfights in some ways. But if a fight involved a capital ship Allston could make them actually scary.

The Hunt for Zsinj is one of my favorite Post ROTJ military campaigns, very happy to see a series of videos on it. Don't rush it though, pace yourself we'll be here.

Such a fun little battle. Not insanely epic compared to the bigger ones, but the tactics employed against Trigit made the battle super interesting to read.

Disney really needs to do a book faithful Truce at Bakura movie, and use that to lead into book faithful adaptations of the Thrawn Trilogy, and the Xwing novels.

I hate it when dogfights have a few ships just wiping out enemies when they are outnumbered three to one but with the setup of an ambush and the way Alliance fighters use warhead launchers on their ships it makes sense.

@@ImTheReverse Yes the book is not hard to follow. But Stackpole’s tactics assumes the terrorists are all geniuses, and Zsinj's traitors are all idiots. I therefore as a loyal Imperial without allegiance to either faction see it as a one-sided mess of a battle. But it is proof Disney did not start that trend. 😊

Gotta love light speed travel being able to explain away ridiculous inconsistencies in travel time. I bet the game of thrones show runners wish they could explain away their characters traveling hundreds of miles per day on foot.

The A-wing commander acted a lot like Salm did in Rogue Squadron, as a mild foil for Wedge's command. That may be part of the confusion

I can't understand. Are imperial pilots worse than rebels? Why death ratio is so bad?

First off, the Imperial pilots that took part in the Battle of Folor weren’t very well-trained whereas General Crespin’s Blue Squadron was fairly elite. Secondly, the biggest reason the New Republic won this battle was the unorthodox but ingenious tactics they employed. First, the decoy to delay Trigit’s attack, then the fake Millenium Falcon ruse employed by Kell Tainer and the other spotters to pull Trigit away from the Folor base.
