You sir are singing my song, I have a small shop with lots of stuff in it, I have to keep it organized, and yeah, it makes life a lot easier. The added bonus is I can be working upstairs on something with a buddy and I need a tool or part, I can tell him to go downstairs, in the NE corner of the shop, the brown cabinet, second drawer from the top, on the right side of the drawer, you will see a red handled tool, bring me that, and this works, because I'm organized. Great video!

My Dad (bless his soul as he died January 2014) .. Always had his shed tidy & organized & new where everything was .. everything had a place to live & wasn't put back until it had been cleaned, oiled or what every it needed to be done ready for the next time. My Mum is the same with the home.. So we were bought with this & I have shown my kids the same ... Everything has a place ... Dad used Jars with screw lids & nailed the lid underneath a shelf so then you screwed the jar in & kept nails, screws stuff like that in them The other thing my Dad taught us girls "Measure twice, Cut once" ..

Another video I really needed to see. I love to be neat and organized, however, I haven't been the best at it. I am in the process of building my own little work shop, 14'x20' and I have been consumed in wondering how I will set it up. This video has helped me extremely well. From chain hanging to how to properly hang my axe's. I will take another look at this video ( maybe 100 times ) and follow it closely. This was great, thank you. And thank you for mentioning how it relates in our Spiritual lives, it really does.

Hello Wranglerstar Thanks for this video, I am in the process of organizing my barn so this video was perfect. I have a tip for you I learned from an old trapper. To keep your flagging tape from unravelling, use a hot nail or blade and melt/score a line across the the flats of the roll in a few places. Keeps the roll together but affect the use. Thanks!

Take care of your tools and your tools will take care of you. My grandfather always said that, and I always took it for granted. Now that I run a service truck I take my grandfather's words very seriously, when you make your living with your tools, and you also depends on speed And efficiency, you can't be looking for your tools and hope there in good order.

I like the saying "A place for everything, and everything in it's place." When I went to automotive school, they instilled in us, "Put the tools away immediately when you are done using them and you will always be able to find them." I'm no where near perfect, but I try to always apply that to everything in my life now. My life gets better the more organized I am. One thing I try to do even when I am in the middle of a job/project is to have a specific that I will lay the tool down. So when I am looking for a hammer, I can think "Oh yes, I have been putting it at the base of THAT tree."

Nice job on the board, good to keep things tidy. One thing, saw chain is measured by the number of drivers not number of links or teeth. Another thing, i have always hand filed my chisel tooth chain. I know it's not as accurate as grinding but any efficiency lost by a less accurate filing is gained by the economy of not paying someone to grind your chain and the savings of not having so many spare chains. Another thing is that a shop will not be too worried about burning up your chain by taking off more material than needed so you have to buy chain more often.

Cody, a lot of my tools, chains and things I use outside of the shop I paint a part of the tool with a color that is bright (Stihl orange) that I can find in the brush and dirt. On chains the grab hooks on tools a strip on the handle, something that helps me find and know its mine and has a chance of not being left behind, thanks.

Just for clarification. Chisel chain comes two ways, square filed and round filed. The corner on chisel chain is square, which improves cutting efficiency. Semi chisel chain has a rounded corner and is always filed with a round file. When determining the length of a chain you need to count the drive links, not the links. I like how you organized all you cutting equipment on the birds. I have quite a few chains myself, hang everything on the wall is the only way to go.

Love what you did there. Looks great. only thing I'd change is the files for sharping the saws on a magnet. maybe you don't have the problem, but I did that once and the files tend to get furry with the metal filings because they get magnetized. Just my 2 cents. great video and thanks for the inspiration.

You can sharpen full chisel chain with a round file. Semi chisel chain or round file chain as you called it is better for cutting stumps and dirty wood as it does not dull as fast compared to full chisel. Full chisel cuts faster especially in soft woods but will dull faster.

Wranglerstar, my Grandpa built a shop with storage that lowered from the ceiling on a pully system, you could invent your own. Basically he hung his tools in a peg board filing cabinet that lifted each board into the rafters, and he lowered the pegboard with the tools he needed. It added space and kept the sharp tools away from all us grandkids until we were old enough to know how to use them safely. He also used to make his own wooden mauls heads of burned hardwood knots and his own tool handles including axes. I never learned how to do it, he passed away before I could. I was wondering if you have done anything like that?
